help this weeks problem with the mk3

help help  :cry:
my stero's stopped working in my golf was working on way home monday and then this morning its stopped checked fuses all ok any idea's need answer and it solved my 7 tonight as i did the scarey thing of thinking all the way into work this morning!! and it take me 30 mins to get ere lol!! :laugh:

there's usually a secondary fuse at the back of the stereo. have you checked that?

If it works when ignition key is just inserted then not a fuse - probably the switched live feed connection to the ignition switch - yellow/red wire. Re-route the wire for the stereo to another switched live feed - blower?

If it doesn't work at all then yes - could be fuses, but then could be anything really. Check live feeds are actually live to stereo with a multimeter or 12v lamp to earth.

Possibility it could even be the ignition switch. Had this problem on my first Mk3, it had worn so much, the only way you could get the stereo to come on was by pushing the key in and holding it there.. which you can't really do whilst driving lol!

wiggle the key and if it turns on then its the ignition switch/barrel (both common issues and not that easy to do!)

well it werent fuses and tried igntion thing to and fuse on back of stero nothing i thinks it maybe just dead and gone to the stero's of hell as it played lots of heavy metal lol will have proper fiddle with it tomos!!
