I decided to get insured with Direct Line when my insurance ran out last October. So far they have proved themselves to be tres incompetant!! When i first took out the policy, they got the spelling of my name wrong about 3 times. So now that i've changed my car to the Golf, i've put my old car on temporary insurance until we sell it. Are you still with me? So, i tell them that although the policy is in my name, i am not the owner of the car as it belongs to my fella. The certificate comes back saying i am the registered owner AND keeper.

I ring them up and tell them i do not own the car and they send out a new certificate. This one says i am not the registered owner but am the registered keeper of the car.

Ring them up again and tell them i am neither - they finally get it right.
So now onto the Golf. They said they wanted proof that the car has an immobiliser fitted. Fair enough i suppose. The car had personal plates fitted to it for a while and the immobiliser was fitted to the car when it had the personal plates on it. However, the chassis number on the current MOT certificate (showing the original plates) and on the installation certificate are the same, except the MOT certificate shows "AA" at the beginning of the chassis number. So for this reason Direct Pants wont accept this as proof!!
I have had to phone up the DVLA and get them to send me a V888 form to request a letter from them saying that the car was registered with a normal plate, changed to private, and put back to normal again, all at my expense. This, they say, will be enough for them to accept it. In the meantime, i'm not insured against any attempted break ins! How f*cking infuriating is that!!
I will never go to Direct Pants again! What a pile of cock!!
**Rant over**
