I am probably stating the obvious here, but I think everybody will need to be extra vigilant as the GTI will be a bit of target for a while, more specifically to the professionals.

Agreed. I try to make sure 'hoody types' aren't following me when I pull into the drive... just in case.

As for the GTI mats, I found these for €100 on VW's German site. I'd like to see a picture of what they look like in the car, though: they look very slightly cheesy to me (please convince me otherwise, so I have an excuse to spend some more dosh on my car )

Hey thats the same one I have... hi hi hi

I will post pics tomorrow, I left my camera in the office.

Well, the spec book (prices and option list) says on page 6 "Carpet mats, front and rear with red edging" for GTI and silver edging for GTD.

And there's a picture of it on page 15 of the GTI brochure (where aluminium pedal is shown).

I know the spec can always change at any time but...

Come on guys, don't let VW get away with it!
My dealer promised to look into it and replace the black ones if possible.
I didn;t have any mats in mine!!

Just called them now.. hopefully get this sorted, thanks for info!

I started it and I'll end it :)
I got this from my dealer
As from 14 Sept:

Mats for the new Golf GTI and GTD do not come with contrasting edging. Brochures, price lists and the Volkswagen website are being amended now.

The mats have black edging, not red (for the GTI) or grey (GTD) as previously stated.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused by this change in specification.

Golf GTI VI DSG - died on the road, resurrected, came back as zombi, sold
