golf 2.0 gti problems
« on: 02 June 2009, 13:34 »
Can anyone help me. Am having idle problems with my 2.0 8v golf gti 1997 it starts ok and idles fine but if i set off then come to a stop the car just cuts out, but i have noticed if i drop the revs down slowly before coming to a stop its fine but if the revs drop quickly then the car cuts out.
I have just serviced the car myself spark plugs,ht leads, rotor arm dizzy cap, new coil pack etc. Just to see if this helps but no joy. So if anyone can direct me in the right place i would be most grateful

i mate its defo dirty thottle body. had same prob which is now sorted. all u need to do is spray carb cleaner into the thottle body. i put a breather filter on the breather hose end (as this is where the leak was coming from) and one in the rocker cover and it runs fine now, massive improvement
