1.8 Carb Head Swap to PB???
« on: 04 August 2009, 19:56 »
Hey everyone. Basicly My freinds got a 1.8 carb mk2 and he was wondering whether the head from my PB engine will fit, so far as i can tell it'll bolt straight on and then just block the injector holes. More-so is there any point, will it flow any better?

Cheers

If you're going to do that, you may aswell switch to injection.. Much more responsive, better power and more efficient.

thats a whole different ball game.

PB head will bolt straight on, and cos valves are bigger there is better flow and more power to be found, it will rev much better and freely.

That's good news i'll let him know. Basicly it started out as a 1.6 driver, then had a 1.8 bottem end put on. He's just looking for a cheap extra bit of power, and as i've got a 200k+ pb engine sat there, i might as well sell him the head with cam and my 4 branch lol!

Couple of other Q's.
Is the cambelt gunna be the same?
Blocking the injector holes, whats the best way, i've heard of people using 1p's or 2p's, would these just push in? Or could i just leave the injectors in there?

Cambelt will be the same, from memory gearbox drain plugs are the correct size.

Wind out the injector inserts and put pennies under them.

Worked well for me, when I fitted a PB head to my GU.

He should get the PB head checked and maybe get the valve stem seals replaced and get a skim on it.  Putting it on and finding it's knackered could cause disappointment.

If it's sound he should be getting 120bhp, with a Weber carb and a good 4-branch on it.

Just make sure the carb is set up right.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
