« on: 29 July 2009, 09:27 »
Hi everyone, think I'm being really silly here, am a novice when it comes to audio! I already have 6+9s connected to a amp. Been offered a amp and sub and I just wondered can i also run the amp and sub seperatly? Just seems like so many connections to one headunit? any help would be great? sorry if i sound dump about this!

does the amp you have in the car have an rca out on it if so you can run an rca from that to the new amp and then you just need to run an extra power cable from the battery an extra earth and link the blue reomote wire from your existing amp to the new one

If your hu has 2 preouts, as troublestarter says just run extra cables to the new amp as well.

If it only has 1 preout then you'll need a y splitter to run 2 amps off 1 output. Them just make sure you set the crossovers on the amps up propperly.

thanks guys, thats cleared it up for me. I'm not sure if the amp has a rca out because its just a cheap one i got with the car. I'l have a look at the headunit later to see how many preouts but either way i'm glad it can be done. Maybe I could invest in a 4-6 channel amp and run everything off one??

A 4ch amp will still need 4 inputs to run all 4 ch. Usually Front left & right. That's 2 then rear left & right. That's your other 2.
