16v Induction kit

Hi. Sorry if this is a common question but ive just got my hands on a 16v mk2 and would like to put an induction kit on it. But it doesent look that simple. Whats the thing with the pipes that sits on top of the air box? Do i take the airbox out? Where abouts on the intake pipe should i fit a filter. Pics would really help.

you can't fit one.

the pipes on the top are part of the injection system. if you know how the k-jet works you'll understand. the best you can hope for is to fit a replacement filter and drill the airbox.

Aready got a replacement kn pannel filter. Guess its time to attack the air box! Just out of curiosity can you briefly tell me how the k jet injection works?

PiperX make an induction kit for the 8v/16v k-jets, your existing airbox top just clips on to it

its a waste of money though, you'll get a better noise out of an air box with the resonater tube removed

I saw one advertised at cult society that uses an adaptor plate on the bottom of the air box top into a cone filter. looks pretty trick but i bet it plays h3ll with the air flow meter. Just drill out your airbox plunk in a K&N and go from there. If you have an 89 or under car might want to change to a 90 and up airbox as they are bigger and use a larger filter. I have been thinking of buying a power rohr lately. doesn't do fook all probably but looks good under the bonnet. lol.

breifly: when you put your foot down you open the throttle body. air flows into the engine and at the same time a plate lifts. the higher the plate lifts the more fuel is pumped into the cylinder.
