coilovers rubbing on tyres
« on: 11 June 2009, 23:42 »
this may have been asked before, i apologise if it has but ive just fitted fk coilovers to my mk3 gti and the spring/bottom adjuster rubs on the tyre sidewall when i hit a bump. I currently have standard gti wheels and the car is lowered quite a bit, my question is will raising the car a bit help solve the problem or do i need different wheels or spacers

cheers

carl

Are you running 205/50/15's if so then run a 3mm spacer or switch to 195/50's

Edit: just reread it and it cannot be catching the spring plate as that moves with the wheel so it must be rubbing the arch.

hmm ill check again tomorrow i did notice a mark round the inside of the tyre which looked like it had been rubbing, but i will also double check to make sure its not hitting the arch.
