Rubbish speakers

firstly, i had a set of alpine type E's and i will never have them again! they were sh**e IMO. spend the extra cash on the type R's mate. as has been said, its better to spend more initailly and be happy than to go the cheap route an want to replace them straight away!

crossovers - filter the audio signal so that the mid driver gets the mid range frequencys and the tweeter gets the high range freq's.

as for fitting, anyone can fit car audio, and i mean ANYONE. it really is not worth the cash they'll charge to have them installed somewhere!
just take your time when removing door cards etc so as not to break anything and you'll be fine. if i were you id spend the extra 50 quid on getting better speakers and fit them yaself,  instead of paying someone 50 quid to fit them!

+1 it really is quite easy, just set yourself a day on the weekend to do it. take your time and do it properly.

ohh and type r ftw!

I`ve got a mk3 and don`t bother using the stereo because the speakers are so crap, mine don`t crackle but bass is absolutely non-existant, it really is irritating

Will change mine when the funds allow

alpine make good headunits but not excellent speakers...

i have rainbow speakers in mine and they are awesome... but quite high pitched

combined with a 5 channel JL amp and 12" sub and you're laughing!

sorry to hijack this thread, but i have bought the alpine type S ones, what are your views on them?. they seem to work o.k for me.

they sit in the middle of the type r and type e. maybe should have spent a little more and got the type r's
