How are you getting on?
In theory it sounds ok as long as its not a total mess of wires, you should be able to join a lot of them up using the current wire colours you have but will need a diagram when you start getting colours that are the same, namely brown and red "Earth and live) A friend of mine has a VR6 and has most of the manuals going for it so I'll borrow them and scan the diagrams off if you want.
Also remember to use heat shrink tubing and soldered joints as anything else is likely to case a fire, If push comes to shove I wouldn't take it VW but an auto electrician as they are gonna be so much cheaper.
