Fast(er) idle after winter fettling

Hi,

Over the winter I've been doing a some work on my 8v Gti digi.  Its been dry stored in the garage.  When I started it after 5 months, after spluttering into life after a couple of attempts, (expected) I noticed it idled at 1250 rpm.  It used to be 850/900.

What could have caused this?  The stuff i've done to the engine was:

Clean out air intake hose.

Spray carb/injector cleaner into the inlet manifold.

Change the timing belt and tensioner (have I got it a tooth out?).

Replace the hot air hose that goes into the bottom of the airbox, the old one had holes in it.

if you've sprayed carb cleaner into the inlet manifold then it will idle high for a bit well it burns it off, however this normally will only last for a bit, it is also possible you altered the timing but its easy enough to check, sometimes it good to give the car a bit of a run just as its been laid up for a bit.

Cool, thanks for your help.  I've run the engine up to temp about 3 times, would the carb cleaner have burnt off by now?  I'll recheck the timing anyway but the run will have to wait until after I tax it.  Bloody bank holidays, nothings open when you want it to be
