ive tried taking the speaker out of the box and connecting it up straight to the amp, in case it was the box connection, but stil no sound??

what tells you its the sub? have you connected it to a different amp?.
usually when a speaker goes, you will still hear it but it will sound awful as the voice coil becomes loose and the tube its wraped around becomes distorted..

If the voice coil is burnt out, then it sounds like a snare drum when playing and has relatively little power.

It sounds more like the braided flex wires that connect to the VC from the terminals might have snapped - if so, a quick soldering will fix it.

Check the resistance over the terminals on the speaker - it should give some insight into what's going on.

Subs can be repaired, but to be honest, its only usually worth it if is actually valuable in the first place > £1-200

there is nothing coming from the sub when its connected?!
not even a fuzz? almost like it hasnt got a power supply.
ive got someone who is quite good with them looking at it tomoz, so will let ya know...
those 2 wire do look a little suspect to me!!
thanks for your help!!!!

Yea, sounds like a connection, perhaps a solder has broke or something?!
