vr6 gear change

any ideas why gear change is so long as my last vr6 was a lot shorter throw.my gears are working fine do you think there is something worn outl

My 16v and diesel all have cable change and they are really sloppy compared to the rods.  I presume the cables stretch with use?  there is a rebuild kit you can get, i dont know if it comes with as much as the rods as there are less bushes etc... but as both yours were VR6 it must be down to wear and tear rarther than a diffrent setup.
