Memory / permanent live problem

I have just fitted an Alpine IDA-X300HAL headunit to the mrs mk3 cabriolet and plugged it straight into the two connectors from the dash using the leads that came with the unit.
It worked fine and turned off when the igntition was turned off but when I turned it back on all the radio presets had been lost. I had a VW audio connector lead taken from her old headunit, so fitted that to see if that would keep the presets. It did but now the headunit doesnt turn off with the ignition, just when you physically switch it off on the headunit or take the front off.

I was just wondering if there is something I can do to keep the presets but also make the headunit turn off with the ignition?

swap the red and yellow wires round on the alpine loom job done

yep just swap wire round mate and should all be fixed
