few questions
« on: 19 February 2009, 16:18 »
hey, just few questions.. i have got an after market radio and fitted it, it worked for a while then i took it out and put it back in and now it looks as though its working but no sound at all comes out of the speakers. I have tried another headunit but it still dosent work  :undecided: i looked at the fuse box but i cant see anything that looks asthough it will fix it.. are there any fuses i need to check somewhere else?

also

There is a button next to the drivers seat on the plastic... it has diagram of car on it and some lines, its probobly obvious but i cannot find out what the hell it does

the car in question is a S reg mk4

thanks in advanced

Not sure about the HU.

The button on door pillar is to turn alarm sensors off or on. Useful if you have a dog.

You could test it, by locking the car with yourself in it move around and If the alarm goes off you're ok.

Well Fook me i dint no about that button or what it did my alarm goes crazy when the dogs in the car lol

How do u no its on or off without actually trying it ?

As for the head unit question. There will be a fuse for it but this will only control the power to the head unit. If you have power to it ie it switches on etc then the speakers should work also. Check the connections on the head unit for the speakers mate see if the speakers are getting a feed to them

See if there is a feed to the speakers then mate. All you need is a test light. If you not got one make one 2 pieces of wire and a bulb.

At your head unit end  Push one wire in the speaker + the other in the - if its getting a feed the bulb will light up. If the bulb lights up ok do the same at speaker end and see what happends. If now the bulb lights up the speakers buggered if not you have a broken wire somewhere from the head unit to the speaker.
