sounds like the pressure sensor is playing up more than the regulator. (although this could be in part due to the reg)
They are fitted with them, so that once they are up they will stay up due to the pressure back on them, however, if it detects pressure within the shorter distance (i.e. the distance it travels from top to bottom) then it will default release back to the bottom of the window.
