as others have said -great write up. you are much braver than i could ever hope to be.
i just would never have the balls to do open heart surgery on my Pn'J, as i know i would have lots of bits left over, and most probably an unusuable gti....i then i would have to get someone to fix it.
you must be chuffed to bits that you managed it, great effort.

It's refreshing to see some humility in posting the "dos and don'ts"
I might only be a "newbie", but I would love to know why the above poster (the meat) thinks its "sh!t"....... seems a very strange and childish thing to say.

Definetly and I learned a hell of a lot... had a complication today at Santa Pod but because I did the work myself, I could diagnose the problem pretty quickly.  Will give me a lot more confidence to do (hopefully a bit less complex) things in the future.
