yes it is on start up, I connected them the same as they came off at least i think i did, blue is going into the fuel pressure reg and the black into the injectors

F/5 is a starter motor feed, its not going to effect anything when driving along.  the pipe to the fpr is the fuel return, i can never remember which way round the 2 pipes are, but a quick n easy check is to look at what colour pipe is attached to the fuel filter, this is the feed.

fuel filter pipe is black so this seems ok

this chould turn into chaseing an unknow  fault  so  i think  its time to invest in an OBD cabel and ask the engine what it thinks is wrong
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Your not going to beleive it was meddling round the fuse box and had the toledo one next to me. Noticed relay 30 wasn't in the golf, plugged it in job done.  :embarassed:
