I snagged a great deal on the TCR so “only” paid circa £35k, so its been great from that perspective.

If there was an equivalent (Golf R for example i think is around 8k discount currently and CS around 6.5k) it would make it a lot easier.

Problem is by the time I have added what I would want I would be approaching mid 50’s.

Surely there will be discounts soon… or maybe not…?

VW (Group 1) Lowestoft has delivery what appears to be one of the first few Edition 50s for UK customers, and in Dark Moss Green!

No picture or info on the UK plaque so now I'm more sure it's not happening, it should have been placed in these initial cars if it was true. If they bumped the import numbers to 1500 then not having a plaque makes sense, 1500 is too many, and not a neat number to showcase about.

Put it like this. You're TCR might be worth £25K or £30K at a push.

You can drive it around with £25K cash on the drivers seat to do with what you wish or drive an ED50 with nothing on the drivers seat. Because that's the difference in price. The TCR won't lose much value either and you won't be paying luxury tax either.

My situation is similar my ED45 may be worth £30K ish and the ED50 is gonna cost me £53K. No way is it worth the extra. And I still haven't got over that LCD screen it just looks like an add on.

Wanted to get some thoughts from people on this rather than derail the ED50 thread :)

So, I currently have a TCR from new. Still low mileage ~25k, paid up and doesn’t seem to loose much money.

Part of me would like to switch to the ED50 but it’s a big step in price with no real discounts at the moment.

I think (need to check date) my all in service will end soon as I think you can only extend until a certain age, so would rather not end up with a large bill.

Both seem to be limited run rather than limited numbers and I really like the fact I have only ever seen about 3 other TCR’s since I got mine!

I love the Pure Grey color (not too keen on Moonstone). ED50 green looks nice but not sure if novelty would wear off, Tornado Red looks great but not sure if it’s for me, which leaves black (maintenance) and white (shame not Oryx).

No heated front screen is a shame as use that quite a bit, but seats look nicer (not sure if comfier).

Anyway… @Watts mentioned the move to CS was an improvement in ride. Looking for some thoughts either way to help make a decision :)

I am not usally one for putting "kits" on my cars but I have always had alittle gripe with VW on the stlying of the Edition 35 and have always felt they got lazy with it.

They made an effort with the front bumper by creating the bottom center section gloss black and adding the front spliiter lip and the gloss black mirrors but that's where it ended.

We got the standard GTi Spoiler and rear defuser. I came across the ECS tuning rear lip spoiler and what I liked about this over the cheap £40 ones or the Maxton designs ones is it looked more OEM+ and more like what VW did with the Edition 40. I also like that it fits well and it's easily reversable too.

I will likely fit the Reiger gloss black rear defuser next as I feel the ECS one looks far to aggressive and the Reiger is more OEM+ and thankfully also ALOT cheaper.

Had my drivers seat replaced for this, under warranty. Second seat works fine.

I got rid of my Banner EFB and put in a Bosch AGM a year or two ago, just code it with OBD11 or VCDS.

As I said my original one is a Moll, I had a Banner battery as OE on my previous MK5 TDI which I had from brand new - replaced it with another Banner (they are Austrian I think) when the time came.
