Golf mk8 / Re: mk8.5 GTI road noise
« Last post by CarbonGTD on 09 March 2026, 11:46 »
Hi Chris - I feel very much the same way about my new 8.5 GTI on the hard and noisy Bridgestones, which is why I am (prematurely) swapping them for a whole new set of Pirelli PZ5's this coming weekend (which are supposed to be the quietest and smoothest riding tyres currently available on the market).  I had a 7.5 GTI previously (non DCC) which I ran on PS4S's (not PS4s) which I loved - but I am taking the gamble on the new design Pirelli PZ5's as the PS4S's are now a 10 yr old design, and the new Pirellis really are supposed to be v good (plus currently available with 20% discount which is helpful) - I'll let you know my verdict on them once they have bed in.

Golf mk6 / Re: Mk6 Bump stops
« Last post by Nino on 09 March 2026, 07:17 »
Hi all!
Getting a H&R suspension kit for my mk6 1.4 Golf. Just was after some bump stops, was wondering if anyone knows if 034Motorsport is a good brand.

Yeah 034 is generally considered a solid brand in the VW/Audi world. 034Motorsport has been around since the mid-2000s making performance parts specifically for VW and Audi platforms, and a lot of their stuff is track-tested and developed in-house for those cars.

They’re pretty well known for things like mounts, suspension components, inserts, and tuning parts. A lot of VW/Audi specialists run their parts, and the general reputation is good quality and performance-focused engineering.

For bump stops specifically, their “Density Line” ones are designed for lowered setups and have a progressive compression profile so you keep more usable suspension travel instead of hitting the bump stop too early.

If you’re running an H&R kit on a MK6 Golf you should be fine with 034 parts. They’re not the cheapest option, but they’re usually regarded as decent quality.

Exonian - yes, funnily enough I did that yesterday. Makes the ride a bit less fidgety but doesn't help with the noise.

EIGHTY ONE THOUSAND EURO. For a Volkswagen Golf.

I had to say it out loud for it to sink in.

I paid just over €93k for my R here 3 years ago haha!

Golf mk8 / Mk8 to MK8.5 Upgrades / Swaps
« Last post by flipflops on 08 March 2026, 22:15 »
Are there any parts which swap over from the 8.5 to 8 to update the car at all?

I know the haptic steering wheel buttons can be swapped out for buttons, anything else people have found out about?

How can you tell which version you have and if it's running PV4?
