I’d been looking forward to the Edition 50 Golf GTI ever since I had my Ed40 but it didn’t really hit the spot for me. I’ll keep my R BE thanks.
But, and as nobody much looks in this section I think I’m safe, this is the model that actually interests me more right now and the one I was actually looking forward to seeing be released on the GTI’s 50th anniversary year.

. IMHO the red tinted clear coat on the alloys also complements the decal along the bottom of the doors. Having said that, I wouldn’t choose them as they’re diamond cut so durability won’t be as good as alloys with a powder coated / painted finish, especially during the winter months. There’s also the added complication with the black / red Queenstown diamond cut alloys that if they ever need refurbishing (and they probably will at some point because of careless tyre fitters, accidental brushes with kerbstones, the inevitable white worm corrosion), not all alloy wheel refurbishers offer a tinted clear coat option for diamond cut alloys.
