Yes, same, all pretty normal and I have to annoy my neighbours in the very early mornings at times by running my engine to clear the inside of the screen. A lukewarm jug of water poured on the outside of the screen speeds the process up massively but beware of said water freezing on the ground afterwards.

Lots of standing water and heavy rain in the UK this time of year which means the lights and interior glass do struggle with condensation at times.

Golf mk8 / Re: 8.5 Clubsport and no DCC
« Last post by Exonian on 14 January 2026, 15:56 »
As said previously, everyone has different tolerances and ideally you should try both.

For my tuppence, I lived 3 years with a non DCC mk8 Clubsport and not once did I wish I had it. The 8.5 might have fractional differences in suspension settings but I doubt anything hugely significant.
The Clubsport has stiff(ish) springs and hard(ish) bushings for optimal handling so no matter how soft you set the dampers it’ll be the springs and bushings that ultimately dictate ride quality.
Hit a pothole with DCC or no DCC and boy will you know about it.

Following the Clubsport I had 18 months with an 8R and now around 5 months with an 8.5R. The former had no DCC and the latter does have it. On some roads the ride in the non DCC R was brutal when doing long distances and in the DCC car a bit less so. So the R seems to have harder bushings. The main difference between the two is a slightly smoother ride on jiggly roads in the DCC comfort settings but when you hit the really rough stuff both types of suspension struggle, and if you drive on really bad roads a lot it’s definitely be cheaper to replace non-DCC parts when the dampers fail, which both types will eventually.

It seems a bit odd that DCC builds have a longer lead in time as I’d have thought it would be a popular option and in good supply. Maybe speak to more than one dealer.

Thanks for the advice, they headlights do always clear up, I did think it might be due to heat and the fact that the lenses are all completely clear.

I’ll try your idea for reducing the screen dampness

A certain amount of condensation inside the lights is normal. It happens on a lot of modern cars with LED lights. The units aren't sealed by design and the LED's themselves don't emit any heat either like the old xenons or halogen bulbs did. Its weather dependant and will clear on its own. I'd only be concerned if there's actual water droplets in there that never seem to go away.

Yeah, I think the inside of the screen is prone to misting up alright and the vents aren't very effective. Make sure you have your climate control on. Set it to AUTO and at 20-22 degrees and it should be fine generally. Then if it does still mist up, give it a direct blast for a few seconds by pressing the windscreen demist button on the panel where the light switches are.

Golf mk8 / Condesation, a problem?

I have a 2025 GTI, I regularly see condensation inside the front and rear lights and I have to say the moisture inside the windscreen is the worst I’ve had on a car, including very old cars, is this normal for a VW of this age?

I have a 2025 GTI and the DSG gearbox says it has a lifetime fill………… I assume that’s rubbish and it should be changed? Views?

I’ve not seen the magazine feature so have no idea about the context and sources but it doesn’t add up to previous info released.
Having spoken to a dealer multiple times last year including right after the big Wolfsburg event where dealer staff were briefed on the model, the UK dealers were told the model would be on general sale for the whole of 2026 with the only limitations being production capacity.
No mention of similar restrictions on numbers to other countries that I’m aware of and the UK is a big market for GTI’s.
It’s not a difficult car to build, no special bodywork or anything like that.

I’m wondering if they’ve got advance knowledge of a limited special similar to the CSS?
There are already bucket seats homologated for the platform used previously in various models and currently available in the RS3. We’ve also seen extensive links to the Ed50 people working with Eibach(?) on chassis work.
Maybe another go at the ‘Ring in a more focussed car this year? Or is that just wishful thinking?

While I’m going all conspiracy theory, it makes sense that VW will use the heritage of the GTI to counter the Chinese EV invasion using people’s heartstrings to keep the brand in focus and keep the Euro factories busy, especially as there is more and more push to put back the zero emissions mandate.

I can't see that being accurate. It's definitely not limited to that degree. I'd read before that it would be available for the whole of 2026.

I do find that surprising. I’d have expected them to want as many sales as possible within a limited time in order to recoup dev costs. Let’s see!

According to Evo magazine only 50 of these are coming to the UK, if this is true they will be very sought after
