hello to all
k&n or pipercross cone filters that bolt on to the airflow meter.
which is the best one to get, and what will they do for the engine, i know it'll help the engine to breath, how ever has anyone had any problems with their engines overheating or anything of the like.
cheers sam

I've always used k&n's, but prefer panel filters.
-
sweet, but they wont effect the running of the engine in anyway giving the airflow meter false readings
-
Not apart from a small drop in mpg.
-
so k&n are the better make, cheers for the help

K&N
-
Ironically enough i was just about to ask what the best form of induction for an 8v gti would have been!?!?!?!?!

for some reason since putting my K&n panel filter on ive done a few more miles to my money. i dont know if its the drop in price or not but hey! whos complaining

I'm never buyin' a cone filter again - they use hot air from the engine meaning there are no benefits. As far as an engine is concerned it needs cold dense air other wise it'll suffer from crap miles & power loss. Short answer = Pipercross Viper

..use cold air feed
what exactly does that mean?

my induction kit on my vr6 only really works with cold air if ive been sat in traffic a long time the engine is really slugish to pull off and sounds like its missing it pops alot on the over run! out the exhaust i put this down to hot air from the engine block being sucked in the air intake. on a cold day when youve air getting sucked in there great and i still wouldnt take it off.

get some cold air ducting feeding from the bumper to the filter :)

I kind of assumed that, so just a hose down to the front left side, (or a fancy sprinter vent grafted onto the wing, as some do)
-
yeah matey, you can buy the flexible ducting at halfords for like a fiver or so, its avaliable in 3 diameters, i have 2 running to my cone.
i also have the vent in the wing on my jap car, works a treat
