Title: Golf GTI DSG Problem
Post by: Jap_master on 09 October 2008, 12:10
Hi i have an problem with the dsg gti, when i had the car:

standard: when the car in up on the hill, put the car on D the car rolls back. when the car is park down on the hil, put the car in Reverse the car rolls forward.

madifiyed: its the same (apr stage 2)

is it like that? has anyone notice that on there cars with dsg?

Should you not put it in P if you're parking?

Either that or you asking when you take your foot off the brake. I would hazzard a guess that the box is dipping the clutch to avoid a stall and that's doing what it's supposed to do.

DSG cars do not have "Hill Hold" ability, the clutch cannot hold the cars weight on anything more than a small incline. So what you described is normal, it needs rev's to engage the clutch sufficiently and VW dont recommend holding it that way on a hill they say use the handbrake.

Yep but that's a normal auto and not a DSG.  :smug:

The latest gen 7 speed DSG's have the "hill hold" feature available.

Exactly.

The latest gen 7 speed DSG's have the "hill hold" feature available.

But that is nothing to do with the actual gearbox.  The hill hold just electronically applies the rear brakes, and uses some kind of torque reaction to release them,
