Title: Exhaust Rubber

Fitted a new backbox on my car yesterday but its heavier than my standard one. Just wondering if replacing with another original one would do the job to hold it? Not sure if the fact the other one is 18 years old has weakened it?

Its just hanging a bit too low compared to what the old one was. Any other tips?

if not you can get polyeurethane ones on ebay and the usual polyflex bush companies, just cost a wee bit more but they'll no move about as much

They hang low from factory mate. thats volksbits for ya! I used about 20 plastic zip ties to hold it firmly in place. Now its held up nicely and doesnt move at all.

Post by: Garza on 21 September 2008, 22:00: I've added a few cable ties to hold my exhaust up and stop it banging on the rear beam... quick and cheap, does the job. I found the original rubbers perish quickly, especially if u have a heavy back box. I know some ppl use jubilee clips too.

893 253 147 D - heavy duty zaust rubber - £ 5.09

replaces the figure 8 type rubber on the rear silencer and the one at the back of the backbox i.e. not the 2 o'ring rubbers that are next to each other at the front of the backbox. Though I guess they would work there too?

They're a company, they're there to make a profit... why would they sort it for free? :huh:

the bloke readjusted the backbox, replaced two rubbers and fitted two new clamps for free
