Hi guys, my car has been into my mates garage for him to fit the CC, he has been having a nightmare trying to find the correct binary codes to change but cannot find them. He has the upto date Vag Com but without knowing exactly where to look he is stumped!
My car is a 2007 with MFSW, manual GTI, please can someone let me know the binaries to change etc.
Thanks
Mark

Ok I have given him the details found above which he has already done but apparently its the Engine Control Module which will not let him in. Any ideas why this would be?
-
VRStu's your man Mark!
Let me know if your still stuck tomorrow and I'll see if anyone at Lister's can help you!

what is it saying ?

what is it saying ?
When he comes to switch the CC on in the ECM its saying he is barred?
-
it could be that you have to use the login code for your engine ECU to enable cruise control.
see if the login code of 11463 suggested in this thread works for you.

to activate CC it should be pretty easy - you have to alter 2 lots of settings, first one is simply a tick box to say its got it, the second it altering a number.
Is he using the latest version of VCDS (vagcom) ?

Apparently he has the upto date version of Vag Com so I cannot understand why it will not work? :undecided:
He has done the one lot of settings but I think its finding the correct binary code to change and what to change it too!
Needless to say im confused.com! :embarassed:

Any Vag Com experts near me?

There's a control box under the steering column, perhaps that needs to be upgraded?
I know yours is a 2007 model, but perhaps this link may help.... :nerd:

Cheers for that mine has a Highline Comp so does have the correct box.

Okay do you think it needs the wire. This is extract from VCDS
Installation & Wiring
In general the whole retrofit is just plug and play except that one wire may need to be added.
Wire T20d/13 from steering column control module to engine control module (see wiring diagram specific your particular car/engine).
Install cruise control capable lever (see parts catalog/repair manual).

That is the only thing im thinking, I have the wire but according to my fitter it doesnt need it cos it has the correct box/connections. I never thought it would be so difficult to fit CC!

I never thought it would be so difficult to fit CC!
It isn't if you know what you are doing
I have replied to your PM and then saw this.
The wire should only be required for cars before the end of 2005 so you should be ok.
You do not need to use 11463 for a TFSi.
Send me an autoscan of your car by email and I'll generate the correct Long Code for you.
If you are really stuck then I have done it remotely via MSN before so if you can get the car connected and with internet access I'll do it for you.

Cheers for all your help, unfortunately I only have an old copy of Vag Com so dont know if I can get "the long code" for you? TBH what is the long code?
-
I am assuming you and/or your installer is using a CAN capable VCDS cable?
Although for a different controller this should give you an idea of Long Coding -

Its not surprising that you had problems. I had my CC retro-fitted and the dealer had problems setting mine up.
Twice I went home with the car, and the dealer telling me I would have to return as they still couldnt get it to work, as they had had to email VW.
On the second time I took the car home, I tried the CC to see what should happen & it worked!!!

I don't normally have any issues

Thats because you are the don of all things VAG COM Stu
Are you coming along to the RR day at JKM, if so any chance of you bringing the magic cable to try again on changing the display profile on my RNS-510 and to check my fault codes to see if my dealer really did fix the diversity aerial fault? I will have some good biscuit supplies from work
-
I aim to be there mate, yes.
I'll throw the laptop in the boot for you
-
What was up with the ariel ?

Well I hadn't noticed any difference in the radio reception but when Stu fitted the bluetooth kit into mine he picked up a fault on the diversity aerial in the rear screen, which must have been caused when the dealer replaced the rear screen.
They assure me they resolved it when they replaced the screen on the third try but I would just like to be sure.
