Just for you Joe
I have been waiting for a dry day to clean my new car and take some pictures, lights not the best but at least its not raining

I have fitted 10mm H&R hubcentric wheel spacers to help the standard alloys fill the arches a little better, in fact the wheels which I was desperate to change have grown on me

Had the car Revo'd last Saturday and I must say I'm pretty impressed, the car made 302bhp and 318lbs/ft, and with a few more miles, its only done 1500, I'm confident it'll loosen up and the figures will improve.
I'm running pretty conservative settings on the map at the minute B6, F9 and T5, but my select plus switch arrived on Thursday so it can be tweaked, in fact I'm going to ADS in Preston on Friday and he's going to set it up using live VAG-com.

The interior is a lovely place to be and really feels screwed together well and I'm lovin the FBMFSW and the sat-nav. The brakes are a deffinate improvement over the golf's.

I'm really pleased with the car over all, although it doesn't feel as light on its feet as the ED30 and doesn't turn in quite as eagerly the traction and solid feel make up for that.
I was determined not to go as far down the modding route as the ED30 but I think resistence is futile
cheers fellas

Very very nice Gaz
-
Lovelllyyy
About time too with the pics  any longer and we'd have been thinking you'd really got a Yaris  * Cue for Redrobin to cut in *
-
Looks ok
-
Absolutely lovely Gaz, think I would have specced it exactly how you have done it.

Joe even reckoned I'd had my picture taken with a random car in a car park when I posted a quick phone pic a while ago
-
Looks superb, only thing i'm not sure of is the stereo !
-
I'm not a big audio head , so I'm happy to have the factory sat-nav and stuff
-

me neither , but the oem looks a bit old fashioned ?, still I would have it in a heartbeat LOL, if you get bored I will swop you
-
Gaz...dont tell any one but im slightly jealous of your motor! Looking very smart....
-
The screen folds down and reveals the DVD player and 2 sd card slots for your music, quite trick, the car also has the i-pod dock in the glove box
-
cheers for the comments fellas
-
Would you have considered the Recaros for the S3??
-
Looks cool, can you not get the grill surround and wing mirrors colour-coded?
What's it like size-wise? Looks a lot smaller than a Golf...
-
Thats the business Gaz, a nice set of black TD's would look good.
-
Stunning car Gaz.
Looks superb, only thing i'm not sure of is the stereo !
Surely you are joking? :undecided:
The RNS-E is a superb bit of kit, and if it has the Bose speakers and amps, really sounds nice too. The folding screen is pretty cool too.
-
cheers for the comments fellas
Just need to update your sig now!
-

Audi "S" models always have alloy-look door mirrors. :nerd:
What's it like size-wise? Looks a lot smaller than a Golf...
Being as the A3/S3 share the same floorpan as the Golf, it will be very similar. In fact, the wheelbase should be identical. The only real difference is that Golfs have a taller roofline compared to the Audis.
-
Don't like it Gaz, pile of crap! It will breakdown and rust!!
Very nice bud  Now your warming to the wheels, what about just getting them painted black??
(p.s. not jealous at all )
-
Would you have considered the Recaros for the S3??
I tried them pal, they didn't really fit me, I'm of the shorter stocky variety and the buckets were a bit narrow where my shoulders sit
-
I'm not known for my comedy , it may sound good but still

If I do change the colour or the wheels I think it will to a graphite colour rather than black

Just need to update your sig now!
I've sent Mike a message to see if he can do me something with both my old car and new car in the picture
-
Nice choice, liquid anthracite colour would be cool

I've had a sneaky look at some graphite CK's, you had them on yer focus didn't you
-
I did, there a perfect colour for light cars
-
Very nice Gaz, and about time too!
Shame you managed to crack your CH's they would have looked nice one there in a darker colour.
-
Very nice Gary. In the right colour as well.
What made you choose Revo over APR this time around?
-
Over on audi-sport.net the guys were gettin really good figures with Revo, and when I spoke to Pab at awesome he did mention the S3 APR maps weren't really that lively. He did say thet he is buying an S3, using it for development and APR are coming over again in 3 months, I can't wait that long. So I thought I'd give Revo a go and keep my eye on the APR developments
-
Good for Awesome to be so honest. Not all companys are like that.
-
Just as I expected... Fooking awful!
Don't know how you have the balls to post up pics of something like that to be honest, i'd be embarrassed...
P.S. Hate you!

(http://)(http://i337.photobucket.com/albums/n374/candyturbo_2008/DSCF1243.jpg)i am really pleased with the colour i had mine done , would look great on your s3 imo , nice car mate
-
They do look mint pal, I could get another set of rims and try that , what colour are yours?
-
they look better in the flesh !they are anthracite got them done at lap tab in birmingham only cost £240 they even removed/replaced the tyres and balanced them in 24 hrs!!! they do all colours and finishes they do a renault anthracite wich is lighter
i was going to go for black ch s but did nt like the rim ! also saved £1k + to spend on other mods. fitted spacers to the rear now (asked you about them before )
-
And is the finish factory standard?
-
I would go in between dark and light, as light just doesn't go to well with the white paint and black it to extreme and sort of looses the shape of the alloy if that makes sense, i would also want it glossy and wet looking too
i know you have seen before but here is my old ck's and my old ST rims in smoke chrome, sort of a croos between with a real wet look would be  IMO

at last !
superb car , and tbh Im very jealous. If I had the money again an S3 it would be
real shame the 4wd is gonna slow you down to let us ED30 guys waft past
-
And is the finish factory standard?
imo , yes , the finish is spot on , i toyed with the idea of getting another set of pescaras but in the end thought if i dont like the anthracite i ll just get them re coated back in silver ( smoked chrome is simlar to factory pescara finish ) and this would still cost me less money
blue can you please stop posting pics of your ck s ! think they look great , if i go 19 s it will be them i go for !!!!!!!!!!

Thay only run in 2WD unless there is no grip then 4WD
Hurdy was telling me about a JBS prepped S3, 340bhp I think, it ran 5 sec 60's in the wet
-
The smoked chrome look would be nice - tempted with this colour myself as dont want black on black as it will be too dark

348bhp and 363lbft.
0-60 in 5.05secs in the wet with a 13.5qtr
-
Very nice car bud!! Was going to mention the colour of the rims, there is a white one round my area with smoked (i think) rims, well they aren't fully black anyway and they look sweet.
Still haven't had a drive in one of these yet. Dont think they can take a 22 year old serious when he says he wants to buy a car of that standard. They certainly didnt when I bought my ED30 a few months back the first guy looked at me and fobbed me off, probably thinking I just wanted to drive a powerful car...anyway he waved good bye to his commission
-
Looks really good gaz. They look best in white
-
One of the lads on ASN has an S3 with forge intake, milltek TBE, and Revo stg1, thats making similar figures 341bhp and 344lbs/ft, which is fantastic for the minimal mods he's carried out

Can we have more pics of the whole car please?..

nice bit of kit there Gaz, i really like the detailing inside and especially the S£ detailing on the calipers looks very kool!
nice one!

Seeing a great photo of that white ed30, gaz, why on earth did you get a white S3 when that ed30 looks the business!. Im sure you have your reasons mate, if the ed30 had a 4 wheel drive system fitted, would you of still plumped for the an Audi??
-
i think gaz crashed his edition 30 !!!!!! but i m not sure ?
-
He did crash it, but seeing yours candy, gaz had the choice of getting a replacement car of his own choice, im trying to see what made him go with a an A3 , was it because its got the haldex and the ed30 hasnt, was it because it has more power as standard (265). To look at, a white ed30 and a white s3 theres just no contest. Id have a white one at a drop of a hat if at the time i had a choice.
-
i ve looked at an s3 myself (i posted a thread about it ) only a month or so ago at an audi dealers they only offered me £12k for the ed30 !!!!! imo the s3 is a great car but not worth any where near £12k more than my ed 30, also the s3 feels slightly better made , i was expecting more performance and a better drive , my ed30 has been remapped i know but just felt more alive than the s3
-
I would swop the golf for a s3, with right wheels on the s3 looks superb, it's better built and more refined IMO, a natural step up, tbh I would of had one when I got the golf but I don't like getting loans and only had enough cash knocking around for a golf
-
yes, i havent actually driven one so i cant comment which is better, but just going on looks, the golf wins it hands down.
-
Don't get me wrong there well over priced (well when I got my golf), with options it came to 30k !! So I decided not to get one LOL
-

i thought pretty much like that too but when i got the golf i looked at s3 but with the extra s i wanted cost £30k , its only really the interior that feels better imo with out the recaro upgrade or sat nav its not much better in any case . did you drive one blue ? was you impressed ?
-
I've driven the S3 and it is a bit too clinical and efficient as standard. The ED30 is much more fun.
Whether or not a remap and some extra bits would change the S3's character to wild from mild, I'm inclined to say yes. I've been a passenger in a remapped one and it was fast and more lively. I've had an A3 TDI DSG before and would have probably gone from that straight to an S3 if the missis hadn't diverted me to a 5dr car first, but then I would have never had the pleasure of the ED30
Quality in the A3 was better than the VW, but you have to balance that up with a lower standard spec and a higher price in the A3 (or in my case 2 extra doors and the availability of DSG).
-
I did drive one, I didn't think they was too fast but then again I don't think the standard golf is that quick, the whole audi just felt 20 % better , engine was still a bit raw though
-
what was better quality in your opinion though ? hurdy , i thought interior and may be paint quality!
-

That does look mint, but my S3 does to IMO
It was a case of bin there done that, I've had an ED30, so didn't want another. The 4wd deffinately had something to do with it, our roads are wet 80% of the time. As I've said in other threads the S3 will never have that light on its feet, quick turning fun factor the golf has but it is better screwed together and feels more solid,I do think its a step-up, a sort of natural progression. They are expensive probably over-priced, but I thought f@ck it your only here once.
I had the early S3 and really liked it so wanted the new 1, also I couldn't get a brand new ED30 as they had stopped making them and didn't want the pirelli, I had to argue this out with insurance company, they wanted to supply a new pirelli.

i m with you here too , if for some reason my ed 30 disappeared , i would nt want the pirelli either , i d have an s3 , have to be white and have recaro seats
-
I couldn't get a brand new ED30 as they had stopped making them and didn't want the pirelli, I had to argue this out with insurance company, they wanted to supply a new pirelli.
Interesting, so did the InsCo completely fund the cost of the S3, or just give the cost of a new Pirelli, and you made up the difference?
-

I wish , they gave the invoice value I'd paid for the ED30 and I made up the difference

Yeah, sorry mate, must have had a bad dream or sommat! Thanks.
-
S3 will be my next motor, looking lovely mate.
-
....I think it's Swings vs Roundabouts regarding the GTI/Ed30 vs S3.
ALL reports suggest that the GTI/Ed30 is much more exhilerating to drive. You've got to spend money modding an S3 to lessen that difference it would seem, and the Audi is significantly more expensive to start off with.
Personally, my taste (or lack of it!) finds the stock A3/S3 very bland in appearance. But, as usual, etto etc etc.
P.S.- I would never want a car without DSG / S-tronic - That's for sure!

I have, it was a must after coming from other modified cars
-
