Has anyone fitted the Carbon/Aluminium Paddle Shiffters from The TT Shop to the multi function steering wheel of a Gti/Ed30? I think the steering wheel may be the same in the Audi, fitting them with 3M tape cant be great though!
-
....I investigated extended paddle shifters with TTS over a year ago and the Audi ones don't fit IIRC. Now I'm so used to the stock ones, I doubt very much I would change them - Their feel being ribbed and shaped is very tactile and their operation feels strong and direct, not bendy.

Thanks, I am looking at ways to try and extend my paddle shift as my right hand is braking or accelerating using the hand controls and unless the wheel is in the straight ahead position I cant reach the up shift button. A friend has had the shifters transfered to two buttons on his race wheel, I thought this may also work on my Up/Down volume buttons.

HI Neil M
i haven't fitted them but a few people have in america and especially Australia have and from what i have read the sticky tape has been more than adequite for this use which was suprising to me, the quality of the glue used on tape nowaday's has improved rapidly the last couple of years.

....Hi Neil, I've just been chatting to Dave @ TTshop (about other stuff) and I hadn't realised your needs - I couldn't quite understand your driving style as posted!
He tells me that they have now sourced Ali and CF paddle extenders and you had the carbon ones. Any chance of any pics please, although I'm hoping to be up at TTshop soon.
:afro: Cheers,
Robin

Hi Robin, Dave said he knew you and Hurdy well, was passing Bedford and popped in the TT shop for the first time nice bloke and nice shop. Unfortunately I'm a bit thick around this stuff and keep getting told 'not an AVATAR or to large' when trying to put a picture in my details! How do you put photos on?

Yes thats me, what times did you get? My best run was 14.1 and 0-60 in 5.5. But doing an Orange Audi S3 by a car length made my day.

Only £5.00 a go I'll send her round.
The Paddles are from Tid - www.tidstyling.com - and fit over the old ones with the tape supplied, hope I wont be picking them up of the carpet in the morning. Dont think they will work that well pressing right at the very tips but plenty more area to select.

....Forget about her washing and polishing my car, I've got something else for her to polish and I'll give her more than a fiver! [unless of course she is your lady, in which case I apologise!]

....Great pics, Neil - Big thanks for posting those so quickly - Carbonfibre has a similar effect on me as hot girls in yellow wellies! I had a chat with Dave about them and we both reckoned that the contoured base and modern tape strengths will probably be absolutely fine. Obviously the leverage when using the very ends will increase the loading but....
What also looks cool is that the '+' and '-' symbols still show and I assume they must continue to illuminate - That's an excellent solution - It all looks very oem.
Please let us know how they are in practice and any problems you find. Meanwhile my name is on a pair!

That was my best run there.. 5.06 0-60mph and 13.5 1/4 (although has run a 13.2 @ Pod when not up against Hurricane Hugo )
Nice pics..

Yours have stayed on I hope, Neil - Are you still happy with them?

Yes solid as a rock, work well right to the top and most of the way down to the bottom, real test at Silverstone next week.
How long are you loosing the car for when fitting the diff? AMD say 3/4 days (if it ever turns up), Dave at TT Shop's looking into another make.

....Great! Good to hear the paddles are solid so far - They look well seated in that moulding.
Mine's booked in on 15th for about 3/4 days for Quaife (VWR were able to get their version straightaway). Was going to be done this week but their gearbox mechanic broke his leg in a bike accident. They've now sourced another specialist who's up to their required standard.
TTshop are probably looking at Peloquin (American).
