So I was in the VW garage today, booked the car in on Tuesday to have the rear door sensor sorted out.
the guys told me I have to pay £47 for an inspection before they'll do the work? Am I being fleeced? I know what needs doing to the car? Feels like he's taking me for an idiot.

second that - he's ripping you off

What do you think the chances are it isn't the sensor? I don't mind ringing them to say I don't want the inspection. But I'll look stupid if I'm wrong and it's something else :)
-
Shall I just tell them I know it's the sensor that needs doing?

What does the rear door do then bud?
-
Couple of things. When I lock all the doors from inside, for example, when I get over 10mph, all the doors lock, but the rear nearside door lock goes down, then pops open again, every time.
When I push the button the lock and alarm the car, all the doors lock, but the lights don't flash, and I'm fairly sure the alarm isn't arming.
-
im having a similar problem, the car locks all round, but the horn wont sound when the alarm is activated, the lights just flash

Right i had the same prob DEFO the door module - and no your alarm is not armed unless your indicators flash.
So tell them you want a new Door Module fitted to that door.

No horn on mine? You can enable a beep with vag com.

i mean when the alarm is "Tripped" there is no horn. god knows why

Ditto....... Nor do my doors lock when i go over 10mph?? Is this a post 2001 spec or something VAGCOM does??

VAG COM enables these.

Spoke to VW today, they're not interested in fixing my car unless I pay for the inspection!!!
They reckon I have to have it done in case it isn't the sensor that's faulty, they don't want me blaming them if I tell them to replace the sensor and it doesn't solve it. And they won't order the sensor without an inspection in case it isn't needed and they're stuck with the stock.
Whatya think I should do?

remove the faulty sensor yourself, take it to the dealers and shove it up the Service Manager's arse
-
Wonder if I could do it myself

Other option is agree to pay it, but also make them agree that if the fault turns out to be what you said it was - the refund the cost.

-
How does the metal panel go on again after you drill it off?
