Title: W8 light loom... Found one I think...
Post by: T_J_G on 12 August 2008, 11:21
May do this light upgrade due to a fault on my current light, but where do I get the loom from, and it doesn't involve any soldering does it.

two ways of doing it really - cut into your exisiting wiring or make a loom to conenct to the W8 light - you will have to tap into your dimmer wire behind the headlight switch to power it

i made my own too, if you can get hold of the connectors it saves you some soldering, as you don't have to solder new connectors onto the vents.

yes it is but you'll still need an extra wire.  IIRC the wires and connectors are cheaper from the stealers :afro:

pricey - parts from stealers no more than £5 i believe  :undecided:

depends how confident you're feeling on your wiring i guess

Not confident at all.

I'll try finding someone to make me the loom, £5 parts 15 mins labour got to be cheaper than 27 euros.

part numbers you'll need and a how to

W8 loom

Repair wire (2 needed) 000 979 131

Adaptor plug (1 needed) 893 971 993

Repair wire (2 needed) 000 979 103

Light plug (1 needed) 3B0 972 706

For the W8 adaptor loom you need to look at each plug and the numbers that correspond to the wire slots.

Old plug end               New plug end

3                                4

2                                5

1                                3

1 (wire runs down to fuse box for + feed)

I can't commit the time to making these anymore as I was working 4 on 4 off so I had plently of spare time but now I have my daughter to look after and a proper 5 day a week job spare time is a bit scarce, but I will help where I can
