I'd like to know too! VW don't seem to do GTi's on their UK website anymore, only GT's and the standard Diesel/Petrol cars.

Other than the badging is there physical evidance to tell the difference between the 2? Is one more desirable than the other?

Thanks

GTi is more desirable than the GT as the GT is the Driver like mine which come in 1.6 and 1.8 engine sizes and considerable less hp than the GTi.

So if I found a Golf GT with a 8v 1.8l engine, that would be less powerfull than a 1.8l 8v GTi engine?

Yup the 1.8 Driver/GT has 90bhp while the 1.8 GTi has 112bhp

Fantabulous. I don't want to bring up my old post so I'll ask in this one. Will a 1.8l 16v digi fit in a 1.8l 8v k-jet engine bay?

it fits in no problem at all, the only issue you have is wiring. You could run it on carbs though instead if you could source some weber DCOE's

Or forgo the 16v lump and get a VR6

You mean 16v k-jet to go into an 8v digi yeah?

If that is the case you will need the 16v engine loom as well as i'm led to believe the fuel pump and undercar fuel lines

I don't know if you have something different over there, but the only 16v digifant we have is the 2.0 from the mk3 golf. Is that the one you mean?
