"these plates are classed as show plates, they are intended for off road or show use only. We cannot except any responsibility for an legal proceedings taken against you if you use them on the public road."
I guess that is becuase pressed metal is not reflective like a british numberplate is.
-
yes they are reflective

MOT laws on number plates were relaxed at the end of last year. According to the MOT man too many people were failing MOT's based on the number plate laws, and the DVLA were getting inundated with complaints, and considering they now sell reg plates they decided to relax the laws.
My plates would have failed for having the car makers logo (only allowed GB or the Euro symbol), a car graphic in the middle of the numbers, and no postcode or details of who had made the plates up. Forgot to swop them over before I went for the MOT.

If you just want plain ones go to Halfords!
-
Got some of those pressed metal ones for £20 from the ebay shop that Rob recommended, cheers Rob.
-
i want to get some of theese , they are better than the ones from halfords and cheaper,
just wondered has anyone ever been in trouble with the cops because of theese plates?
-

yeah i got a front GB one for £14 from halfords, went in with my documents and they did it in 15mins, then stuck with double sided sticky pads, also bought from halfords
-
the ones from halfords are expensive and they dont last long,
i had some in the past, lasted about 4 months before they looked crappy,
i think im gunna get some off ebay, do they not ask for your documents when u buy one from ebay? seems abit dodgy :lipsrsealed:

If a huge stone doesnt crack it or pierce the plastic then how can it "look crappy"? its just plastic
-
they get dirty and the plastic print on the back peels off and looks sh!t
-
i'm very much of the show plates for shows and normal 'legal' plates for everyday skool... less reason plod has to pull me over the better
-
:embarassed: Did something really stoopid...brought the plates and payed for em, then later realised that i hadn't given him the most important detail - my registration number (doh)
Emailed him with it and said sorry, hope he wasn't to peed off with me.
-
only problem with using sticky pads is when you come to change your plates at MOT time. real arse getting them off and having to buy new pads each time
-
Not gonna change em, far as i know they are legal....reflective, standard uk font and spacing, just that they are metal plates with pressed leters.
-
yer im gunna buy some aswell,
i think they look much better with the GB logo, and it makes them look more legal
-
Got mine from www.no1showplates.co.uk (http://www.no1showplates.co.uk)
Delivered next day and no complaints about the service. Had a St Georges flag and standard border on mine with slight italic font. Look mint in my opinion.

the pressed metal ones look so much better though
-

Out of interest, my mate got pulled over on his way to work last week and given a £40 spot fine for having German font pressed metal plates with the german 'D' symbol on them. Might be worth keeping legit ones in the boot!
