As title says and leading on from my other thread http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=84562.0 I decided to gatecrash SCN's RR day at Awesome today, just mainly to spectate (as I know a lot of them from the LCR days), but if a slot came available I could run mine..
Well it did and with the mods going on yesterday I thought it was an ideal time to see what the mods had done..
1st run... 340.22bhp, 312 @ wheels, 362lb/ft    (I was told to expect this as the car was nice and cool, so they don't really take that one into account apparently )
2nd run.. 320.69bhp, 301.67 @ wheels, 362.41lb/ft
3rd run.. 317.39bhp, 300.10 @ wheels, 359.72lb/ft
4th run.. 308.08bhp, 292.97 @ wheels, 362.76lb/ft (not sure what happened on this run, but it dips on the graph at about 3500rpm for some reason, may of not boosted properly etc)
Anyway, this is all with just 1000 miles on the clock, so will have to see what she runs at the next one when some miles have gone on. But I am fairly impressed so far to say the least and Revo seems to of done the trick again. Lovely power curve that pulls right to limiter/gearchange..
Have to say, was quite suprised with the torque fig, especially with it being DSG, as thought Revo pull the torque back a bit? What a cracking engine though.. There was a chap there with a Mk2 Cupra with similar mods, but a lot more miles and bigger downpipe. That did 324bhp with a WHOPPING 394lbft!!!
Good day though and what a great bunch of chaps at Awesome, big thanks..
P.S. Will put pics and vids up shortly..
-
nice one!!!
show us the graph :)
-
Wow ... awesome figures
Where did you have the Revo done ?
-
nice figures
-
Quattronics in Lincs mate.. Recommend them highly. Not just a dealer who lobs the map on and send you off within fifteen mins.. It was there all afternoon (fitting exhaust too) and he went out on the road to map it whilst running. he seems to of set it up perfect, as it'a friggin animal on the road, but at the same time drives like Miss Daisey when you're not in the mood..
As for the Graph, I can try taking a pic off my phone of it, but can't promise it'll be great quality (don't have a scanner )..
-
Those are superb figures. The torque is particularly good. It makes me wonder a little if something is a bit adrift with mine :undecided:
Ah well, I'll remedy it soon

Different maps though mate, so could be that.. Revo do seem to pull better figures than APR from what i've seen. But so long as it's ok on the road mate, who cares!
Now for the 1/4 mile... lol
-
good figures them pal, what's the spec again, stage 1 remap and milltek?
-
Yes mate.. Just Revo stage 1 with the full milltek (2.75" Downpipe)..
The chap with the Mk2 Cupra had Stage 2 Revo, but I thought you needed fuel pump for that?

Got the map for £500 including the dreaded (gave me 15% discount for cash). But charged me £135 + VAT for fitting the Milltek, which I thought was quite expensive, but apparently the downpipe is a b!tch to fit and takes a good 2-3 hours).. Anyway, i'm not bothered now, as he's made the car run bang on..

cool, did you get the switch
-
I did, but i got the standard one, then noticed that the Select + switches were going on Ebay for about £30 more, so getting one of them now..
-
I bet reading this is a bit upsetting for the R32 guys
Come on R32 guys, someone get a Turbo conversion and show us what those R32's are really capable of.

nice mate, if any of those lines are the torque then really flattened it out... check mine: http://gallery.sjssites.co.uk/Golf%20GTI%20ED30/10.JPG (http://gallery.sjssites.co.uk/Golf%20GTI%20ED30/10.JPG)
the torque is quite erratic
-
think top one is torque matey
-
Yeah, as 182_blue says, the top one is the torque..

that is erratic, the bluefin one is pretty simillar to the Revo one, perhaps it was the RR you used
heres the bluefin

mine standard incase u didnt realise?? maybe im just confused...
mine was dyno test, the guys there say the golfs all seem to be like that as standard..

ahh, i see, sorry, but look at the Bluefin map, it shows standard also ?

Cracking figures vtec! I wouldnt moan about the fitting of the downpipe, I fitted an ed30 3" Milltek downpipe to my gti(200ps gti, not an ed30) and it was a b!tch. These figures are really interesting to me as I've got Revo and may be getting a Pirelli. All this with 1k on the clock, its really gonna fly when you've put some mileage on it..
-
God those later Seats are ugly! Nice results there fella, I really would love one of these!
Nick
-
Nice, that must have abit of a punch ;)
-
I think you got your Ed 30 just after mine ... infact I am sure I saw your one on the system as I was after a white Ed30 but without SatNav, etc ..... so went for a black one instead as yours seemed the only white one available !!
I have now done 1000 miles and wonder what mine would be producing bhp wise as standard ? It may be interesting to have a thread comparing standard and remapped / with and without Milltek .... ?
Mine doesn't feel particularly quick but still does the same speed in my favourite road to a certain point as my S2000 did ... thing is, that was well run in and this only has 1K on it
The temptation to remap is huge after threads like this  I have AmD at Woking very, very close .... and had AmD remap a V6 4motion I had years back when they were at Bicester with no problems at all .... so they would be the people I would go to ....
-
Im now very tempted to map after reading this!! Am I correct in saying if you don't have/want cruise Bluefin is the way to go?? :undecided:
-

only the APR uses the cruise to switch off, bluefin has a handset that removes the map, and Revo has a switch that you plug in and turn the map on and off

Thanks mate. Where is the switch for the REVO? Or can you specify where it goes?

its a unit you plug in to the same port as i do my bluefin, so theres nothing in the car

Top man, thanks
-
great to see some more results from other remaps
Thats some real nice ponies
As you say though I cant see the REVO holding back for the supposed DSG torque limit.
But then it doesnt seem to effect the Awesome demo car lol
This DSG/torque limit remap thing needs clearing up!
Awesome must now have a nice ED30 dyno database for std + remapped , so if you add in the future RR day maybe we can get them to provide a combined plot of a few cars???
Seems the milltek contributes to a few more ponies released at higher rpm too.
Oh and it looks
APR / REVO / Bluefin mmm decisions
Steve regarding torque flattening out , remembering the sampling rate and smoothing on graphs has a huge effect on how these look. You need to come up to the AwesomeRR day just to make sure

Yeah, Awesome'd demo car, which is AWESOME lol, doesn't seem to have any problems, as I was asking him about it and he says it runs sweet as a nut..
Be interesting to get a mixture of us lot at the next RR day to compare different maps (Revo, Bluefin, APR etc).
-
from what im seeing, the REVO seems like the one to go for? (if i could get insured after a map... )
-
Get it done mate, you won't regret it, I promise..
Revo seem to be getting around the 310+ mark just off a map too..
-
i just wont get insured, they would want a bundle or just say they ant insure me! im 23... be 24 in june tho, so would be worth asking after that, 4yncb too... :-|

i have to say i was surprised how much more my insurance wanted for the map (double that of what it was for the ST's map)
-
No harm in asking I suppose, you maybe suprised (one way or another anyway )

Each to there own, but the mk2 Leons are fine looking cars. Some good choices in the alloy wheels too.

My mate does a lot of maps for various tuning houses and has said he will do mine for nothing. He used to work for AmD and other big names, im very tempted by this now. His web site is www.dnatuning.com and what is even better is that he lives 2 minutes away from me!

Running Boost 8 Timing 5 mate.. I was told (even though I always use 99 ron) that timing 5 is about as high as I should go, as when the weather starts to warm up (eventually :undecided:) it may start pinking if I go any higher. Will have a play about when I get my Select + switch in the next few weeks and see..
-
you can adjust all that urself?
-
Yes mate, son long as you have one of these..
http://www.revotechnik.com/products/sps.aspx
-
looks very simple, one knob? do you program it on your pc or something :s
how much does that cost then!!!!
-
Haven't used the new one yet, so not entirely sure mate. But the previous one had two knobs and was very easy to use.
They are normally £250 + the dreaded, but you can get them a lot cheaper 2nd hand..
-
Awesome have finally put up our vids and graph from the other weekend if anyone's interested..

Switch is easy to use, little bit better than the older versions as you can use the new one to read the values off the car - I always used to forget.
The main bits on the new one is setting A B & C, you can pre-set 3 different settings into the unit for fast switching or connect up through a laptop (USB) and alter your settings that way.
I run 6/6/9 on an everyday basis (Non Ed30 mind), when playing with the settings its always best to do some logging to make sure the CF values are not too high.

Mine's a non ed30 too, can you "aquire" your settings from the ecu? I've tried and can't do it with my sps+. I contacted Revo and they said sps+ will only aquire the settings from certain ecu's
-
I can plug in my Select plus device and read mine - non Ed30

Interesting thread. You guys seemed very clued up on this topic. couple of Q,s
Vtech... I take it this has finished your warranty?..Thats the only reason I did,nt map the PD,by the time it ended I knew I was getting rid anyway so did,nt bother.
What sort of hike did your insurance make.?
GTI guys with map.......... What sort of MPG are you guys getting now?
If your still going on 7th of June Vtech..I need you and Hurdy to give me a half hour start. :embarassed:
-
MPG depends on how you drive it, it can be the same as before unless you give it some beans and then obviously it will be lower but you'll get there quicker
20mile trip round town not caring about fuel - 23-26mpg, seen 28mpg before.
Over 50mile run - 28-32mpg
Long casual run on B roads I have seen 38mpg before

Hi there mate..
My warranty is still fine on the car. As I asked them about the Milltek before it went on and they are fine with it (unless say one of my lamder sensors go, which is unlikely and don't cost much anyway). I haven't told them about the remap (don't think they'd be that bothered anyway to be honest), I just switch it back to stock when ever it goes back in.. Plus, like my dealer said, nowadays they can't just invalidate your whole warranty for say an exhaust. They have to prove that it was the exhaust that was resposible for damaging another part. So if you have a knackered wheels bearing, or a faulty dash light, it's hardly going to be down to having a full Milltek..
Insurance is on a fleet policy through work, so not affected price.
MPG for me is about 27mpg at min, 32-ish on a run..
As for the 7th, don't worry, we'll wait... You probably know the roads a lot better than me anyway mate..

Insurance (calculates little bits over length of time in head) comes , so far to an extra £145. I'm hoping the next set of mods will only be admin as there will not be that much extra power, but there will be better control.
MPG (27mpg ish average)....don't concern yourself with such trivial matters....just enjoy
I'm still going on the 7th, but I'll make sure you keep up...we'll sandwich you between us
