Title: Braking

What is the balance of the braking, as in how much is done at the front to the rear.

I have new tyres discs and pads on the front, and worn rear tyres discs and pads.

How much is this affecting my braking? as the front setup is all good branded stuff, eaglef1 tyres, brembo discs and green stuff pads.

And the rear is worn to bits.

Also, how hard is it to increase the size of the rear brakes? As they look weedy and small. lol

70/30 front to back I think, least that's what it is on a Beetle?! :tongue:

Either way, more at the front than the back!

And is it a big job to fit bigger rear brakes or what is the deal there? As they do look pretty pansy

couldnt care what it looks like on the rear, mine stop me on a dime, mind you ive got the 16v with the bigger front brakes(VR6 items)   :cool:

its around 70/30 you can change this by replacing the brake splitter but dont recomened it,its not that hard to upgrade rear brake setup but you dont need to just upgrade the pads discs and also the hoses

don't upgrade the rear's as they do so little braking...it's pointless really as the brakes wont be any keener.

and can i add..vr6 brakes. all gti models to 95 and the vr6 until 93 had 280mm front discs and then after 95 for the gti and after 93 for the vr6 had biger 288mm discs  :nerd:

lol, i also have 288mm brakes same as you, and the vr6.......

The brakes on the back are plenty good enough. They only need upgrading if you have a super tuned beast. Or like me you want to upgrade them just because they look too small behind 17s lol

you dont want to go messing with the brake balence.  If you upgrade the rear brakes and get it wrong you might well end up facing the oposite direction every time you hit the peddle.   :grin:  Always do a full upgrade.

The only thing you can get away with is using weeker rear brakes,  as long as its not to far out..  as then once again you will end up skiding alover the place

to be honest id leave the rears alone in my experience unless you upgrade all 4 wheels it can become unbalanced
