Used that handy search feature you were on about Rhsyso :P to my disappointment , i found out the golf gti turbo i bought wasn't the 180bhp model that was strongly advertised! the sticker on the boot states 110kw, this is definitely a 150bhp i have isn't it? well annoyed! is there any way of getting a remap on a 150bhp to make it 180bhp or even more?

Remaps start around the £200 mark and i believe you get what you pay for.
Use that search function again for remaps :afro:
Head start though - I've got Custom Code on my TDI and its very OEM in its delivery; well worth the money

i think the 150 ones r cool and you can soon have it over 180 with a good remap so dont be to down jus hope you didnt pay a massive price

That sucks! still love the golf , think its a wee rocket , but annoyed at being lied too. i bought it privately from a guy i thought was genuine, but now i think he is a complete wayne kerr! lol dangers of buying from autotrader i suppose! definitely gonna get that remap got some spare cash to burn. gonna use that clever search feature :D I think my gti is also needing coil packs as it has being playing up very occasionally. gonna phone my local VW hopefully get a freebie! why do i always get bad luck with cars!

I paid bang on 7k for it mate , it came with 1 month old Rs8 18" alloys and toyo tyres, miltek full system, tints and more. is that over priced? im gonna get pics up for you all over the weekend if my girlfriend will let go off her digi cam for a day! lol

what reg?? mileage?? hate to say it but that sounds very expensive :sad: even with the mods and wheels
what spec has it got?? i'd expect it to be fully loaded for that price

its a 52 plate registered 09/2002 with 47k miles, its black, full leather heated seats, traction control, angel eyes, pipercross viper induction kit with cold air intake, bailey dump valve, rear light replacements to black smoked ones. FSH, a years ticket also. Aw well whats done is done now, im still happy i bought it, but a little bit angry deep down at the seller not the car, never mind ! is there any meets up my way in scotland?

from the list of mods already on the car wouldn't be surprised if it had already been re-mapped and thats why they were saying 180bhp

being a 52 plate the price sounds and with that spec it sounds ok; perhaps a little bit expensive but not as bad as i first thought lol

im gonna phone the little wayne kerr tomorrow and find out! i forgot to add it also has a front apron on the bumper and side skirts all colour coded. Defo gonna put pics up over weekend, so will be looking for your opinions. Im enjoying my stay in the gti club, used to have an mr2 , there owners club wasnt as expierenced and cool as you guys :cool:

Get someone local to stick VAG COM on it and see if its been mapped. (or get a copy yourself, very useful).

Did'nt the 180's have 6 gears as standard?
Looks like a nice motor though. Low miles and leather...I would have paid £7k definately.

Yeah the 180's had a 6th gear, I'm sure of it. £7k is a little steep, I'd have thought 6k was more realistic to be honest. Still, you'll get lots of use out of it, that sticky out bit on the spoiler needs to got though :)

I still reckon 7k is about right. Especially as it's a late model 3 door...even more so if it does turn out to be a 6 speed 180. And I think the splitter looks ok as it's a dark colour.

Yeh its only got 5 gears, defo a 150 model. never mind im still glad i bought it. and i like tht sticky out bit! :p i nearly bought a golf before that one , but just missed it and that was a 180 , because i remember it having 6 gears, silly me should of thought, but i was slightly gullable in believing the guy, i called him and he says he wasnt aware of it not being a 180...pfft yeh right!

Well technically he's mis-sold to you, it's grounds for money back to be honest. Unless you think you paid fairly for it?

I think it would be a bit tricky to prove that one in a court of law, i wouldnt say i was overcharged enough to take things as far as that. i am happy with it , i probably would of paid the same price even if i was told the truth, just annoyed i told everyone its a 180 when its not.

I got a quote from drivers in glasgow - £460 for upto 210bhp or £800 for upto 235bhp
Probably gonna go for the 210bhp , gonna shop around first though i think its a bit pricy

Private sale = Sold as seen = Not a leg to stand on!!
5 mins research on tinternet before purchasing would have avoided disappointment.
That said, though, I think it's a very nice car at an okay price - Not too OTT by any stretch. And like people have said, it will re-map to the same bhp as a 180 would anyway (225ish). :smiley:

i think thats sound about right just be well annoyed that the seller lied but look at it one way you dont have to buy the miltekand all the extra mods on it compared to most people on here running a stock 150
u never know when they go to remap it they might find it already has it :undecided:
as ivor said u havent got a leg to stand on as it was private, just a shame u didnt get it from a dealer
