Hi all, just awaiting delivery of a Golf GTI in Diamond black, 18" Monza's, parking sensors and centre armrest.
Really looking forward to it
Currently drive an Astra VXR which I can't say a bad word against. Bought from new and provided me with two years of care free manic driving, but time to change.
Keep you all informed of my views and how it compares when I take delivery. Although you may not really be interested! :embarassed:

Welcome mate. Two amazing cars, it'll be interesting to see how the compare, I hope you'll indulge me! I've always wanted a new VXR, but then always wanted a new Golf GTi as well!!!

Well, I thinks that's what most hot hatch drivers think. At the end of the day if money wasn't a problem and the choice was between an Astra, Golf, Megane, Leon, Mini, Civic etc, I think most people would choose the Golf, for the overall package.
I'll let you know if it was the right choice for me.
Cheers
Martin

I'm currently thinking of replacing my CTR with a GTi, although I've driven a VXR and was very impressed, yes it was a bit of an animal but fun

I test drove the Megane R26 F1 about a year ago and found it so dull! The acceleration is just to linear, so you don't actually feel as though your gaining speed very quickly although you obviously are. Also hated the gear change and the cabin layout. The dealer who came with me was disappointed with my views so I offered him a test in my VXR, which he accepted. He loved it and off the record agreed that day to day the Astra was much more fun than the Megane.
But, mention anything to a Megane owner and all they ever bloody say is "yeh, but we'd have you in the twisties". I've learnt that the word 'twisties' is a Megane owners favourite word. ZZZzzzzzzzzzzz
