I know what youre asking but to get the best power out of the KR is to drop a 2.0 ABF bottom end in. About £300 parts and with a manifold £300 and a tune up at Stealth £90, you should get figure between 160-180 bhp.

But if you want to put a smile on your face when you boot it, get a panel filter for about £40 and drill some holes on the wing side of your air box. The intake of the airbox is directly behind the headlight so drilling the holes allows more air to come in. I also bought a Power Rohr, £20 second hand, which replaces the narrow plastic intake trunk to a wider metal pipe. Throttle response was much better and the sound was amazing (sold the car now :(

You can buy a KR exhaust cam and replace it with the inlet cam to increase duration (second hand with gear fitted is about £30 if any come up) Get the WUR worked on by stealth to increase fuelling at top end.

Infact read comments about Stealth Tuning as they rolling road and setup your car. Most valvers are not set up to its best potential so they will sort it out and do the WUR mod for £90 ish.

And fix any air leaks, fuelling/idle problem too! Mine totally changed after i fixed all the small things

Thanks Leon R. Sorry to sound thick, but what is WUR? And could you describe in more detail about swapping the exhaust cam over, as i have two spare kr heads. Many thanks in advance.

I'd also like to know a little more about this cam change, as my gf has just bought a slightly modded 8v which seems quicker than mine!!   Do you replace the inlet cam, with another exhaust cam ?  does this hold the inlet valves open slightly longer ?

Thanks
Wilson

I think you would have to change both, if you go for a cam kit you will get everything you need in it.

I think you need to make sure it's set up and running properley first if that's the case!

For the 16v you just need an exhaust cam. But its very hard to do yourself so I'd get a machining shop to cut the gear off as the metal is incredibly hard, then turn the sprocket so the marks line up.

I have a few links if you want to read more, but trust me, buy one already made! Read the post by wcrado in the middle of the page:

Hers has cam.  4 branch, straight though and some sort of chip  apparently,  yet to straight line race her, but when I drove it seemed quicker...   But your right, I could do with a good set up anyway !

I'll give it a miss, was just interested in case it was an easy upgrade that I hadn't heard off...

Is there an easy way to see if mine has already had the WUR upgrade ?

and can anybody recommend a good tuning place in Ipswich, Suffolk or East Anglia ??

Thanks
