Ok i've gone and splashed out my hard earned for a downpipe + cat for my ed30. I'm running just generic bluefin, will the new parts affect performance in anyway without getting so called stage 2 map to accommodate the new parts?
Anyone know whensuperchips are launching thier new maps?
Cheers..

....I expect that Revo is similar, so: If the hardware (downpipe etc) is present, the remap will exploit it and deliver more performance than without it. You should get sharper throttle response either way. Milltek?
-
Yeah Milltek... got an ok price for the parts. Fitting it next Tuesday.. hope its not too loud and droney.
-
K1, do you know anything about bluefins new maps, didn't know they were bringing out a new one. Had mine bluefinned a few weeks ago and am really impressed. are they doing a stage 2? do you know if they will update our bluefin modules foc? i suppose i should send them an email to find out and post the reply!

....Be aware that the original VW exhaust fixings are likely to be a bugger to undo! VAG cars are well known for their tight build.
The Milltek will usually take at least 1,000 miles to coke up and mature and may go through a 'droney' stage at around 3,200 revs for a while before maturing fully. Then it's perfect - Quiet at low revs and deep and throaty when working. Not at all boy-racer baked bean can and the best a 4-pot is capable of. V6 or V8 on Milltek is even better!!     - Five Star Cool!

just had a reply from superchips saying there is no newer map in the pipeline, although if you run tesco 99 super then they have got a different map with some more ponies. i cant get the stuff easily where i live,so its not worth it for me

I got an email from Superchips ages ago... like back in October. Here's what it says:
"Morning
You would need a custom map yes, however we will be working on different stages for our Edition30 fairly soon so you'd probably be best to wait for us to finish the next stage(s) of development before proceeding.
However, if you do buy the extra parts please contact us and we can have a look for you but it will need a re-map at £150 per hour for a minimum of 2 hours.
Michael."
Don't know what the case is now then. Will just have to see if the downpipe makes any more power, as with this the ED30 should be pushing close to 320-330bhp right?

....Just one reason I favour Revo over Superchips! I know a tuner who is agent for both and guess which he much prefers. Revo are far more thorough in their pre-release testing methinks.

Mine will be fitted next Monday  along with Forge DV and torque arm insert
I went for the resonated (quieter one!) Which one did you go for?
-
I've already got the non-resonated GTI catback for my car. Just gonna fit the down pipe next week to the system. Got the DV and dogbone insert done a month ago too. Dogbone insert makes alot of difference for 25 quid.

Hi
Not to good to explain in english but il try.
I first had stage1 on my edition30.Then i put on complete exhaust from turbo including downpipe with 100cell sportcat and New intercooler. Then i went to a dyno, and did a unexpect look at the dyno, i had lost 10hp after my modification. So you have to upgrade your remap to get the extra out of your exhaust.Il did a upgrade of my remap and now the car runs as it should.
So dont expect more with your exhaust without new remap
Cheers

I drove a MK2 Leon at the weekend there and it was fitted with Milltek downpipe and system and also had revo to about 320hp, was fast and not at all boomy, but it did rattle sometimes on idle maybe just not fitted 100%, i have heard of issues reg the downpipes and the cell light coming on, last being an MTM tuned S3 audi.

Thanks for the heads up Wolfbane. I'll see how it works out next week. If Superchips indeed do not launch new maps, may have to go to Manc to fork out for a new APR map!

Which insert did you go for, ECS or Neuspeed?
-
Got the ECS dogbone insert.. Cheaper
Got an email from Superchips, they will no longer develop anymore maps for the ed30, since they are selling it. Thats just crap, that means i'll have to go to APR or something to get custom map for my intake and exhaust now. 599 quid down the sh*ter!

Thanks, I guess I'll get the ECS as you say it works and as a bonus its cheaper.
Superchips,,, that is a sh!tter.. If you go apr I'm sure you'll be happier with it

....I wish I didn't have to write this because I'm not seeking to trash Superchips, BUT!! - That attitude stinks! Very unprofessional imo.     - Five Star Angry if I was in your shoes!

Can't agree more Robin. I just wish i made the trip to APR (even got the cruise fitted, cos i was certain to use APR before i even got the ed30) or to GIAC. The DIY with bluefin was just too enticing at the end.
Which map would you guys n girl(s) go for GIAC or APR? Heard great reviews from GIAC over at the Audi forums.
Kev
-
I have no experience of the GIAC remap although (like you) I've heard good reports about them. The APR is a great remap and I have no qualms about recommending it.

....Definitely APR - I don't like the GIAC sole UK agents in Southampton nor what others have said about them. APR - Awesome in Manchester area are a great bunch of guys who will look after you.

Just emailed superchips, and they 100% assure me that there are absolutely no plans to sell superchips, now or in the future and they will keep me up to date on any future upgrades.there are so many cars that share the gti and ed30 enginethat it will keep them busy working on upgrades for years. dont know how these stories get started, anyone for a game of chinese whispers?
