The front is really agressive looking.
Not to my liking, personally, though.
-
First thoughts....
1, Front badge looks odd, would look better in the grill like most others
2, Rear bumper needs to wrap round the tailpipe more, looks too much of an after thought sticking out like that
3, Quite a big rear qtr, smaller wheels (which will no doubt be on it when released) will look lost in those rear arches.

I dig it! I'd like one in red please. :)
-
front badge looks like its just stuck on!!
-
It doesnt look too bad. Good idea to trial the new VW front (because i am sure they will all look like this if this is a success) on a new model.
I would get one.. but only if it gets the V6 engine!
I would also not be suprised if the back of the Mk6 golf looks very similar :lipsrsealed:
-
I like it ,it looks better than in the earlier "leaked" photos

the writing under the pictures says "Not", because it would be a competitor to fckuking expensive TT.

I quite like it....really like the two tone interior aswell

I recon we have two hopes of that two tone being the final version tho.

Hopefully with the new Volkswagen Individual more doors will open towards options...

More pics here http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/218187/volkswagen_scirocco.html (http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/218187/volkswagen_scirocco.html) looks much better in red although i think a black one could look even better.
Could be tempted, just need to wait and see what they say about it once they start doing road tests.
-
Check this link out for more pictures - this time in red!

-
Wow ! How good does that look in red !!!
-
looks very like the astras and signums though doesn't it.
-
I see where your coming from with the Astra, but it does look a class or two above the Astra.
-
From the side it looks like a Volvo C30 with an Alfa Romeo Brera Front end.
-
White with red leather please.
7 speed DSG
-
I really like it...the more pics i see of it in different colours the more its making me think.....dam 3 door.....
-
hummmm i think im coming round and warming to it. i do not like those alloys and also i believe the vw badge on the front should be in the grill also i think the rear vw badge should be a handle for the boot like the mk5, i rekon the mk6 will look alot like this.

Have VW just crushed the GTI market with this car? If you want something sporty, why would anyone buy a GTI/R32 when you can have the Scirocco for around the same money? The Scirocco is a stunner!
-
I have mixed feelings about it to be honest. I like it from side on, but am not keen on the front nor the back.
Interior does look nice though
-
ItROCs
Can't understand the negativity, yeah it would be nice if it was slightly more mental, as the original concept but heh, what looks like another great new VW - bring it on! :)
-
Can't understand the negativity
I'm sure it makes owners of other cars feel a bit insecure as their car has potentially just been trumped by something better?

Not until i hear it has the 3.2 or the possible 3.6... then i will probably just get one

I like these seat: -

And the front end is growing on me.

Still not sure about the back end though, still too Astra.

it will probably grow on me like the mark 5 did
-
I'm going to reserve judgement until I see one in the flesh. However, it's no more than a 2-door GTI Coupe and can never be a great allrounder as the 5-door Mk5 GTI/R32 is. I bet the rear seats don't fold but could be wrong.
-
I like the car from the outside, but am not impressed with the fact that the interior is exactly the same as the mk5. Thought they would have changed it from the mk5 as its an all new car.
-
What are you talking about?! It's got, er, different air vents!
-
Yeah, from the looks of it, assuming the Golf follows suit, the dash won't change very much in the Golf MK6, other than the shape of the vents! And the troublesome rattly centre vent is different too.!
-

The new dash will be saved for the Golf as that's the flagship model. Dropping it in the Rocco would have spoilt the surprise on a niche model.

The whole point of the Scirocco is to offer people a purer sports car rather than a sports version of a decent all-rounder. The Scirocco isn't a family car with a load of sporty bits added, it's a coupe. So it can't really be docked points for not being a decent all-rounder as that's not the purpose of the car. If people want an all-rounder, buy a Golf

....Yes, we said the same thing! The Scirocco is a sports coupe and not an all-rounder.
-
I give it the thumbs up. The only thing I don't like is the VW badge. It should be on the grill. There's some proper photos of it in this weeks Auto Express.

Just seen a video from the show of a red pearl Scirocco. It looked very nice.

-
White with red leather please.
7 speed DSG
3.2 4-Mo and then add a charger.....................
-
Looks quite nice, I agree the badge should be in the grill and the 3.6 with 7 speed DSG woulf be a good plan for a nice sports coupe.
ALl rounder wise it has a surprisingly big boot
But even though Volkswagen has focused heavily on style, the Scirocco remains relatively versatile. There’s a 292-litre boot, which can expand to 755 litres with the rear seats folded.
-
7 speed DSG has been designed for the lower capacity engines. More gears on a smaller capacity engine mean you can get more out of it.
-
I've heard in the press over here that they won't be putting a V6 lump in it, but may be offering up 295bhp out of the 2.0L FSI turbo. Should be interesting enough......

....Sounds like a higher tuned Ed30 2.0T FSI engine - Quite a practical and likely option I would guess.
-
Its obvious they will offer a higher output TFSI as they have already done this succesfully with the ED30 and have the 4WD R32 drivetrain on the same chassis, so I think we could easily see the full S3 spec engine fitted with 4WD in an R version, which would give better MPG than a R32. I can't see them offering anything more than 250PS or 260PS max so as not to mess with the R32 and Audi brand.
I would deffo swop the ED30 for one of the above, as I'm tempted now to go for a diet 2.0 TFSI one now!
Come on VW release some teaser info on an R model.
Dave
-
what car are you talking about here.
-
Ummmm the new Scirocco?
-
Was just checking.
There wont be any bigger engine than the 2.0 T. 200BHP.
Thats not the thinking behind the car, its not a replacment for the golf or indeed designed to run along side it.
Its a Coupe, and will probably only sell to those not interested in having the flexibiltiy of the golf.
Numbers wise probably and i'm guessing but if vw sell 2 to 3 thousand models then they will be Happy.
The scirocco biggest engine was 1.8-litre 16V 139bhp
The Corrado biggest engine 2.9-litre VR6 190bhp
The new scirocco biggest engine will be 2.0 200bhp.
Its not in competition with the golf, and if you want a 1.4 tsi dsg 7 speed then you will need to buy a golf.
All the above has come direct from VW.

....Then VW clearly don't bother to listen to what their loyal customers want!!
In spite of what you report, vw_sales, and I know it's only speculation, but I reckon there will be a bigger variant than 200 bhp offered in time.
Out of relevant interest, do you know what rough percentage of GTI/R32 customers are enthusiasts and therefore if the 'ordinairy it's just a car' are the biggest market, or not, for GTI/R32's? You are in VW Sales, so what type of customers do YOU see?
Thanks
-
I would guess that 80% of all Gti / R32 Owners are enthusiasts.
The rest just buy it for look or to own the GTI versions.
VW in my opinion do listen to the loyal customers, and they know that you as a golf owner would probably buy when the time comes another golf.
The scirocco will be bought buy owners of
Honda Civic Sport Coupe
Toyota Celica coupe biggest engine 1.8 vvtli (190 bhp), not made now, but change cycle.
BMW 325 Ci SE Coupe
Mercedes C Sport Coupe ( possibly)
If i take my VW hat off only for a second, VW have in my opinion decided to enter every group within the market, we had no 4x4 to sell in the land rover freelander/rav 4 range so they have the tiguan, there is no very small car, so they will bring out the UP, IF THEY CALL IT THAT.
The Scirocco is here simple because we dont have a coupe, so they gave free rain to a design team and said go do it.
Can i put my hat back on now, my head is cold.
-

....Thanks for answering that .
I always wondered what the percentage might be and your guesstimate is higher than I expected but very good news. I am of the opinion that a GTI is wasted on someone who isn't an enthusiast.
-
Looks boring IMO  - Especially with the loss of the IROC grill - another missed opertunity - the fact that the engines are going to be lesser than the Golf is adding insult to injury.
For my next car i will be going else where unless VW can pull their fingers oot their...........
-
whats the age restrictions on test drives? 25?
-
No age restriction in our dealership
-
Just seen a video from the show of a red pearl Scirocco. It looked very nice.
http://motoring.sky.com/news_features/geneva--video-highlights.aspx
I like the red one. The one in Auto Express is a white one and imo does not look that good. A Golf GTI in white looks much better. Auto Express says that it will be released with the 2.0 TFSI engine but say a 272bhp version is in the works as well as an R version.
It's a shame I will never own one now that I have a toddler.
-

Im sorry where's your dealership again?
-
Bloody Sky site doesn't support Macs, so I can't see anything on that link. I really wanted to see a red one!
I don't recall vw_sales ever saying which dealership he is from, Alan.
-
Try this RedRobin

-
That video clip has just convinced me.....the missis is getting a scirocco ....in red
-
....A thousand thanks, orca!!
I love it in red of course!! I could even transfer my VW05 RED plate! It looks like a metallic red
Oh dear! I'm gonna be looking for as many reasons as I can NOT to want this car! I really need 5 doors, don't I! And the load capacity isn't big enough, is it! How I wish it was much more expensive so I couldn't justify it! I'm sure it wouldn't fit into my tiny garage - The GTI only just fits.
My father had a Mk2 GTI when he was about my age and then had 2 Scirocco's following and then a standard Mk4 Golf before he stopped driving at 90yo. His GTI was white and Sciroccos were red. Almost a family tradition.
-
im getting one next unless it drives like a dog, ive already decided.

I think it looks pretty good, if I were in the market for buying a brand new car (which I wouldn't do again) then I'd consider this once it comes out. Apparently they're doing a model or two that will p*ss on any of the Golfs :)
-
Overall I am a bit disappointed - side profile looks good, but rest of exterior looks a little bit bland to me, and hate to say it - almost has a Mitsubishi Lancer (the model we get in NZ anyway) front to it, and back does not look right either.
Preferred the look of the concept version a couple of years ago. Will stick to the GTi I think...
Perhaps it will look better in the flesh?
-
Just spoken to my dealer and there only getting an allocation of 1 before the end of the year in the 2lt turbo spec. so if you want one this year your gonna have to move quick.
