Ive noticed that I've been running out of window washer fluid, but haven't had a light on the dash to tell me I'm getting low. Whereabouts is the sensor for this, or is there a fuse which may have gone?
My oil light did come on the other day telling me to top up, and everything else appears to be working fine. It's just a pain, especially in these wintery conditions with all the crud on the road at the moment.
Anyone any ideas?
Cheers guys!

i assume its worked before?
sensor is located on the bottle itself; if you have a look there should be a hole at the bottom where the fluid comes out; think the sensor is located within that.
-
I don't think its worked since I've had the car (Since July last year).
I'll check to see if there's a loose connection or something later on.

you have got the winter pack yeah?
as i thought it only came with the winter pack.

mine don't have a winter pack and i got low level washer fluid and heated mirrors :undecided:
-
I dont have the winter pack - But like Rhyso I have the heated wing mirrors.
I thought a washer fluid low level warning light was pretty standard myseel. Had it in my old Escort and most other cars I've had. I'd be surprised if I dont have one!!! considering I have most over things!
-
Mine is a base model and when I put the new clocks with the trip on it came up when the fluid was low so there is defo a sensor there as standard
-
i thought the fluid warning was part of the winter pack, the heated mirrors were standard on the GT TDI's and the 1.8T's i think you had to pay extra on the 2.0 GTI's though

think it will be cheaper to buy a whole new bottle from the main stealers, i think someone has on here before and it was only £28 i think? :undecided:

should be less; i've been quoted £18 for the larger 5.5L bottle; think the small one is £10, nit sure how much the sensor part is

Do you guys have both wing mirrors heated? I have a heated drivers side mirror, but my passenger side one isnt and its really anoying in the morning, espec with my jounrey to work which involves cutting up alot of people trying to get through the tunnel. :D
-
Yeah both of my mirrors are heated.
So if my washer bottle hasn't got a sensor in it it should be a case of buying the bigger tank and swapping over? Will all the wiring be there to hook it up to?

both mine are heated to, i thought the passenger side wasnt until i replaced my wing mirror cover n found the wire had come loose, so happy i had that and gave myself a big :afro:
-
both mine are heated to,
same as.
just a theory but if you've got the mirror control selected does only that mirror get heated?
i've always thought the if it wasn't in the centre only the rear got heated

thats right mate; has to be on the heater logo for the mirrors to be heated otherwise its just the rear screen

yeah mine doesn't have the heater logo, IIRC its just a line although they are definitely heated as had them one today and yesterday, might replace the switch at some point.
-
Do you have the black stip going throught both of them then?

WTF
do you mean line on the mirrors or the switch?
-
lol ! the line on the mirror (which I assume is the heater element). Like you we have on the rear window.
Do you have them on both mirrors?

the only line on my mirror is on the drivers side for the anti blide spot, the heating element is behind the glass so you don't see the wires (on mine anyway)
-
Oh I dunno now then, im just confussed.
Fook it !
-
theres to wires behind the glass which has a live and a eart connector attached, u cant see them unless u take the cover off,
take your's off aland 2 screws underneath, im intrigued
