I was due to pick my new edition 30 up on Friday, I rang up on Friday morning to make sure everything was ok. I ended up coming off the phone fuming, the car had not arrived yet!! I took the whole day off work so I could sort everthing out at the stealers and then go for a nice long drive in the afternoon. I rang today and they said there had beem a problem with delivery, 25 cars one of them being mine did not get transferred across by computer for delivery to dealers, so it is still sitting at the port  The stealers said that Volkswagen would transfer the cars for delivery manually today or tomorrow and then I would get a new delivery date! This sounds like some bulls*** excuse to me. Now I dont have a bloody car as I sold my old one ready for Friday and I still do not know when mine will be arriving.
-
Theres nothing worse, this has happened to me before, take a day off work go to dealers and the cars not there, then they hit you with some bullsh!t excuse.
-
my deepest condolences
me, I go driving in a few hours!
-
me, I go driving in a few hours!
you smug b@stard
if i were you i would go down to the stealer, explain that you do not have a car and demand a courtsy car untill your comes, oh and make sure its either a gti or r32

Agreed.
I travelled to Southend to collect my GTi (ex-demo off the forecourt) and was informed that they hadnt managed to service it yet, fit the new wheels or fix the 'niggles' I had asked them to do.
I explained about taking the time off work and getting the train etc and demanded a courtesy car.
Which they duly provided...a 1.4 Golf S. Which I can confirm was / is the slowest car in the entire world.
But at least I had some wheels!
Kick up a BIG fuss, dont let them get away with it!!

POWER TO THE PEOPLE (literally and figuratively )!

My dealer in Edinburgh said that if anything like the above happened then the dealer has to give you a courtesy car.
Push the kents till they give you one as they have messed up and you have every right to be going mental in the dealers showroom right now
-
Very very unlucky mate....I really hope this doesnt happen to me when it comes to getting my car in march/april....im spoilt and impatient...not a good combination!
-
Courtesy car my 455!
More like a "get me a fcuking car" type car
Not happened to me yet, but they know better than to p1ss me off
Not your fault - MAYBE not the dealers fault - MAYBE the systems fault eh? :undecided:
Where there's blame - you get what you want with knobs on
Don't take any sh1t - it is their fault so make 'em pay
-
I am gonna go down to the dealers tomorrow and sort something out with my friend who is good at being angry and getting results. I have a problem of being too nice unfortunately!

you will do a turbo conversion I assume! YOU GOT TO!

My did bought me the R32 because i wanted to put some BBS LM's on it and he said it was not worth the money...imagine what he would do if he finds out i wanna spend £7000 on a turbo conversion?? Not sure if its 7k but im sure its alot of money lol
-
My mate had problems with his Seat Aurosa or whatever its called the other week. Took it in under warrenty and got a Lean Cupra (the 2.0T Ed30 one) as a courtosy car. Couldnt belive his luck. He was more than happy that they took their time sorting it out lol.
-
Sounds like horseturd to me - I would check the dealer compound/car park to see if it's arrived, they've probably found or caused a problem with your new car!!

wait, if your dad bought you R32 because you wanted to put some aftermarket wheels on something, then if you tell him you want to do a 600hp biturbo conversion for 25000 euro he will think about getting you an R8 or 599. Logical chain of conclusions.

If there was a problem why did the dealer not call you and inform you? Its an age old trick your car has been sold to someone else. they ordered your car and probably another exactly the same. basically the person who ordered theirs before yours was probably waiting so they gave yours over to keep them quiet thus you have to wait for theirs.
if you see what i mean.

If some one told me that i would cry  That is really really bubble bursting and best of luck with your car!!

I doubt this would happen but if I found out it has the sh** will hit the fan, I am going into the dealers tomorrow to check the place out and see what the REAL problem is.

This is a very good idea - I hope your angry friend does it for you. I'm rubbish at getting good deals and always use my angry friend to drive the hard bargain I'm simply too polite to reach. :embarassed:
I got my edition 30 this week, but not after finding out at the last minute that the garage had omitted one of the options I'd expressly asked for (and appeared on the agreement). Luckily it wasn't a deal killer and I squeezed out a small compensation for my distress. I was angry enough about this as it was - I'd be 'Stressed Eric' if I were in your position, so here's hoping you find out some good news today.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Right been to the dealers this morning and I have to say they were absolutely fantastic  They offered me a courtesy car on the spot and they preety much promised my ED30 would be available for collection on friday pending delivery tomorrow, feeling a little bit better about the whole situation now
-
Fingers crossed it will be there for you the morn.
They give you anything good to run around in?

Great result! Did they give any reasons for the delay other than the one already mentioned?

I actually cant believe my luck, went to pick up the car today and everything seemed to be going to plan, paid for it had a good look round it and everything was well, the lady who sold me the car then told me she was going to nip to the petrol station to fill her up, I asked if it was ok that I drive but she said no as she had the fuel card, as she was pulling out of the car delivery lounge I could see the wall gettin closer and closer, I did not say anything as I thought she would not be stupid enough to get any closer, I turned out to be wrong she ended up hitting the bloody wall did'nt she which resulted in a big scratch on the rub strip and a took a big gouge out of the side skirt  I did'nt know whether to laugh or cry! Now its going back to the body shop tomorrow to be repaired what a pain in the arse this car is turning out to be!!
-
This has got to be the worst "Bad Luck" story ever. You should change the Subject from ANGRY ANGRY ANGRY to FUMING FUMING FUMING
-
T880MM - I cannot believe this.
If I were you, I'd ask for a discount now. After all, what they're giving you is a vehicle with an accident history. Doesn't that affect the value a little?
They should certainly refund the money to you in the meantime. There's no reason for them to earn interest while they faff about fixing the damage they caused.
What an absolute bummer.

I just really dont know what to do about the whole situation, Ive been driving around in the car the whole day and dont get me wrong its awesome but I cant stop thinking about the body damage, they said if I am not happy with the repair tomorrow they will look at some other options, personally I dont know what they mean by that?? I am well into my detailing and if the paint finish on the repair is not absolutely perfect it will just really niggle me  What a predicament im in
-
Just to add as well Chips Away are supposting to be doing the repair do you think I should decline and have it done in the bodyshop?? any advice is much appreciated
-
I personally would reject the car or ask for a BIG discount and that the job is carried out by an authorised reairer. Either way I would want my money back until I am satisfied one way or the other.
Oh, and shame on you for thinking a woman driver would think about a little thing like a wall. :lipsrsealed:

I think rejecting the car would be going a little to far for the damage done, I think I will be asking for some discount on the car and the repair to be carried out by a good bodyshop
-
Really sorry to hear about your bad luck.
If I were you I would push for a big discount as it is now tarnished goods. If you are paying big money then you are well within your rights to get what you are paying for not some patched up motor.
-
I wouldn't want a chipsaway repair pal, and Im not sure I'd want the VW bodyshop doing it either I've had some bad experiences with them. I would be tempted to reject the car although this might seem a bit extreme, I know you have been waiting a while and couldn't wait to get your hands on it, but in my mind if it was mine it would already feel soiled. If you do decide to keep the car, think you will , make sure they make it worth while, free service package?, and don't take no for an answer. I'll come and have a row for u if u like
-
Erm.. amI the only one who thinks rejecting this car would be extreme? It's a new car for f*cks sake!! I sure as hell wouldn't want it now..
Sorry to hear about this. Stupid b!tch!
-
REJECT THE CAR end of story. Get them to order the same one at a cheaper price but don't just accept it!!!!
I had a similar issue when I picked mine up. The first one I was going to buy (2nd hand) had a gear problem and then the 2nd one had an issue with the bearing on the brake.........not a huge issue but when you buy a new car either brand spanking new or a couple of months old.........they should treat you like royalty and the car should be in good order..................
If you take that car, I think it could ruin the whole experience but if you get another one I think maybe it will become a distant memory
Just my thoughts but it brings back how poor customer service can be.............there's no excuse for crashing a new car or for not filling it up before you came there.........
But that's women driver's!!!!
-
Really feel for you, must be totally gutted !!
I would reject the car, you don't want the cars original paintwork being painted over before you've even owned it.. I thought the idea of a brand new car was that it would be all original..
If its just a bit of black trim then fair enough but if it requires paintwork i'd reject it...... You pay all that money, I'd want original paintwork.......
At the minute you may be thinking "I just want the car" but in a few months time you may wish you'd rejected it and got a fresh new one thats never been damaged !!
-
I am gonna go down to the dealers tomorrow to get something sorted and try and speak to someone with some sort of authority, I cant tell you how bloody gutted I am  If I have driven the car would be rejecting it out of the question ?? Not to sure on this one as they insisted I take the car as the problem would get resolved pronto.
-
Not sure how u stand, having driven the car away does this mean u've accepted it?, maybe this was why they insisted u took it. Stick to your guns pal and make sure you come out of the situation with something your happy with which is what counts.
Gutted for you though sort of taints the new motor experience.

Cheers for the advice mate, hopefully ill come out of the stealers tomorrow feeling a bit better about this mess :undecided:

let us know how u get on

Maximus just sent me this link

May be worth getting them to pay for the detailing and bumper colour coding as part of settlement!!!!
-
Really feel for you
Getting a new car is all about excitement and fun, and this is just a nightmare
I'm sure it will all get sorted though...
My advice is to put a complaint in IN WRITING straight away, and copy VW UK in on the letter.
State what happened, add photos and tell them what you want doing to correct the situation. Tell them that until you are completely satisfied with the repairs, you reject the car. Tell them you have doubts about Chipsaway. Ask for compensation - free servicing for three years or whatever you think is reasonabe. Keep a written diary of telephone conversations, promises etc and confirm these IN WRITING & send them back to the dealer and VW UK. Be fair but very firm and make sure they know you mean business !

absolutely put it in writing............a friend of mine is a barrister and when i told him about my situation he said the same thing.............i believe you can reject the car inside 30 days so i would do that and it would make you feel better 100%.............ba$tards............
my issue was a bearing weight so not major and they bought me a bottle of champagne........which was a nice touch but it ruined the BIG day as it was the first time i bought a nice car..........
good luck and keep posting with updates as people here will assist you to get the right resolution :nerd:
-
Right went to the stealers today and they said they would book it into the bodyshop for next week, if I was not happy with the car's repairs they would look into other avenues to resolve the situation, which would hopefully mean a new car. The gaffa of the stealers is phoning me on monday and hopefully I can get compensated generously, otherwise the sh** is gonna hit the fan!
-
Dannyboyr32 - very good point.
Don't let them fob you off with a repair. Contacting VW is good, as is written letters. Unless you come out of this *smiling* with a really good deal, then it's really worth just walking away with your cash, put up with the pain of ordering new, and look forward to finally getting what you almost, almost had!
They've opened up the ED30 orders it says on another thread, so there should be no problem in the long run, but whatever you do, when you're spending so much money there's absolutely no reason why you should share the pain of their stupidity.
How can someone who works in a car depot not blooming well reverse a car without trashing it?

Good job too mate.
You probably want to talk to him face to face is the first thing I would say! To be honest I would agree with what most people above are saying and refuse the car. Simple option would be to ask to keep the damaged car, or an alternative whilst they go out and get you another car. That way you can still drive it like you stole it
Im sure your thinking you can live with the repair but it will no doubt come back to bug you at a later date! No point in spoiling the whole experience any more than you have to, and who knows the next car you get might be one of those really fast ones we keep hearing about.
Personally what I would do is ask for a stupid amount of money off the car, and hit them where it really hurts! Like they did your fast!

Yes put it in writing whatever they say because come 6 months time when you're in a court or wherever arguing the whys and wherefores the truth will get distorted.....
Put a letter a head it WITHOUT PREJUDICE and ask them to reply in writing........send a copy to the principal and a copy to VW........the franchise doesn't like getting in trouble from VW because they may have the power to make their life very difficult.......
This is a serious issue and they are expecting you to drive off with the same car, if I were you, I would push for a new car and a very good replacement until that arrives. Not that I would tell you what to do but I know how emotional it can be when you've saved hard, set your mind on something and some twit with a pimple and a $hit sales patter tries to ruin it for you....................remember you are the CONSUMER..........
Also quoting Trading Standards and Sale of Good Act (just take the relevant paragraphs) scares the life out of most people selling sub standard products..............

I would stay WELL CLEAR of them - unles you're only keeping the car for a couple of years. But then it wouldn't be fair on the next owners. I have spoken to my local Chips Away guy and even he said the repairs were in no way comparable to those of a bodyshop let alone factory.
-
just found this thread!! OMG im slow :embarassed:
so whats the latest??
-
Get f**king with it Joe.
-
he's got a point
what happened?
-
The car is in a VW bodyshop at the moment having the repair, I will go to view the car when finished and if it is perfect and I mean absolutely bloody perfect (I am going to take sight lamps with me to check for colour match and quality) I will accept the car and be compensated accordingly, otherwise they have agreed to order me a new car. Not what I needed in the grand scheme of things but I suppose I got a good result in the end. I just hope the repair is good because I cant bear another 2/3 month wait
-
If you dont like the job they have done on your car what happens to it....touch wood you do cause im really sure you want your car....but i mean like would they try and sell it again just in another dealer or would they send it back and stuff? Possibly use it as a demo car even?

At the end of the day its their problem so if I reject the car I am not sure what they will do with it there after.

Fair enough...guess you do have a point....what a shame they dont do ED30's here in gib.....
-
I'll tell you EXACTL what they'll do. The will sell it as a new car to some poor dupe who wants a new GTI but can't wait for 2-3 months. After I sold my first Ed30 to the VW Dealers, some tw8t thought it would be funny to throw eggs on it while it was in the showroom car park. The egg white stripped the paintwork and the roof and other parts had to be repainted. Anyway, they managed to sell it to an enthusiast who rejected the car a couple of weeks later when he realised the car had been repainted.   I'm sure they've sold it to some other unsuspecting member of the public now.
