Post by: Fatandre on 10 December 2007, 14:40
Hi there. I have been thinking of this for a while. Can I make my GTI 4 wheel drive?

To me the price of the R32 is pointless. The R32 in icelands costs just as much as a bmw m3.

it would cost more to build your car to 4wd!! you would nee a whole new gearbox and drive shaft!! also with all the extra weigh from all the extra parts your car would be alot slower. if you wanted a 4wd then why buy a gti??   :undecided:

If you are wanting a bit more in the traction department, the only really viable solution would be to have a Limited slip differential fitted.  :nerd:

I was on the quaife website, they do a limited slip diff for the gti, its about 550 quid, not to bad, but has anyone got a rough idea how much it would cost to get it fitted??? I would love one on my ed30

Yeah will do but I am expecting quite a large figure as I believe it involves quite a lot of labour.

Yes, I'd at least double the cost of the part for the total cost.

you could convert the MK4 to 4Motion, so don't see any reason why you couldn't do the same to the MK5

after all no reason why you couldn't seal the running gear from the MK5 TDI 4 Motion or the R32
