Title: In love with my car
Post by: DrT on 28 November 2007, 10:42
Don't know if I'm the only one but after driving the GTI (and yes only basic with no extra gagets), I just look at it and think...wow. It look so beatiful. I think I'm in love with my car. I think I need professional help. Never felt anything like this before for a car. Can't wait to drive it back home this evening. Maybe it's true, once you go black, you never come back.

I think black is the best colour. silver doesn't cut it for me anymore. white a bit too daring. red looks a bit out of place. then threre is blue...all I can say about it really.

Anyone else out there in love with their car??

Yes.. when I park it up for whatever purpose, whether going shopping or even at the petrol station I keep glancing back looking at how nice it looks.  I often have to consciously stop myself as people must think I'm mad   As for the choice of colour I think the same.  The Mk4 GTI's looked best in Silver, while the late Mk2 GTI's looked best in Oak Green but this GTI looks best in black - the Ed30 looks equally as good in white silver or black due to the colour coding but its black for me   As for getting my 'GTI fix' when I am not driving it, I come on here...

Black is the best colour in my opinion. White also looks nice. The thing with black is that when its clean it makes the car look gorgoues. During the night the street lights really show the black off !

Also, the contrast with black piant and the polished Monza wheels is perfect. Looks stunning both day and night.

And like my friends always say to me, the red lipstick around the grill really sticks out a mile away on a black GTI !
And thats what grabs the attention of many folk .

Black is just desperatly beautiful

As for the GTI itself, well, its the only car i've ever cared about !

Black is best (well that's what my wife keeps telling me !)

Seriously though, even after 6 months of ownership I still, really, really look forward to driving it.

The only problem I have with it is not going hell for leather everywhere   Does anyone else have this problem?  The car just seems to scream, "thrash me!"

I sometimes find myself at the window of the office just gazing out at my car - up on the second floor which is a great angle to look at it from.

And yes I love the black but do think that the silver and white great colours too.  Just wish I had a helper monkey that would polish it everyday as it is a bugger to keep clean

I am always looking forward to driving my E30. My heart really bits a bit faster when I open the garage doors.   But now I desperately want to improve E30 a little with lower suspension, a chip, new intake and exhaust.  :embarassed: It's a crackin' car, definitely, and I always take a few minutes before I close the garage doors after I put the car inside, I look at it and I say "goodbye, baby, see you soon" to it.  :nerd: But if I could aford S3 way back when I bought E30, I'b buy S3. White of course, and with titanium black wheels.

WHITE is the scheisse, Mann!

Yes, I do occasionally check on it from my 2nd floor appartment window. Since it's dark most of the time now, it looks fab, although need to wash it this weekend.

I know... I used to wax my cars almost every week but so sick of it that I haven't touched this Ed30 since I have had it.  Plus been too busy at work and flying to Jordan what seems like once every 2 days - off again tomorrow until Monday.

Bloody hell...why use paintwork cleanser and a bodywork shampoo...aren't they both just cleaning agents???
Title: Re: In love with my car

Bloody hell...why use paintwork cleanser and a bodywork shampoo...aren't they both just cleaning agents???

No.

Paintwork cleaner is applied after the car is washed and dried.
The Paintwork Cleanser is a thick, rich, white creamy pre-wax polish that removes contaminants and adds essential emollients back into the paint and prepares the paint for the Wax.

The wax is a lot easier to apply when the car has a layer of polish already. The shine lasts for longer aswell inbetween washes.

When you apply the cleanser you can feel that the paintwork is a lot more silky and smoother and then the wax just glides on.

(You might think this is a longwinded process but its nowt really. If you REALLY want to be serious about keeping your car looking top-notch then you should clay it aswell)

not exclusivity exclusivity, but standing out from the mass...
but then if you like black, you like black, it's the taste thing. THough, I believe, lots of black-car owners choose, consciously or subconsciously, the black as the safest color.

regards Black I have found I have had to 'step up' my quality of washing.
2 bucket method mandatory and specific gear just for the ED30, so far its keeping the swirls at bay.

For a quick result , I find a wash and a quick going over with Megs Quick Detailer works wonders

as for colours I guess we all have our own opinions
but then that wont matter when the black uns speed past .......(being quicker n all )

GTI is a great car , and I love it
