Title: R32..
Post by: Manu_R32 on 27 November 2007, 17:19
As i mentioned before in another thread, my dad wants to buy me another golf but with 5 doors. Went to the VW Dealer today, they are willing to take my car in for £12,000 (Two years old with 40,000KM's) The Spec we have chosen for the R32 is as follows, Tornado Red, Leather, Sat Nav, Multifunction steering wheel with highline, winter pack, electric folding mirrors, heated seats and front centre armrest with ipod connectivity. Would be around £28,000 and delivery would take place some time in March....any views/opinions, any other options i should get which i havent listed?

The Mk5 R32 in Tornado Red looks very good indeed! The silver nose/cod-piece looks better with the red. Also, the colour is quite rare.

Reversing beepers?

12 grand only!!, omg thats shocking. i just got £17500 for my may 2005 GTi.(21K Miles) And you are prepared to shell out another £16000 for a Car that really doesnt justify paying that much more for??.

Yours is five door with a much better spec...i would think the spec does make a difference! My current GTI is close to standard, just the centre armrest with 6 cd changer had been added.

I for one think that the new alloys on the R32 look absolutely shyte... the Zolders were really cool - not very photogenic but had real presence when you saw them in the flesh

thats what i thought... i didnt know i was getting the 08 spec. its only because i went on the net and did my homework. They are much nicer in the flesh. I tried to find as many pictures as possible and still didnt like them (oh apart from the ones with the centre caps removed). When the car came i wasnt sure.. now i think they are much nicer than the zolders. lighter too. and much much easier to clean. also when the car is moving they look 10x better than the zolders.. trust me!! i wasnt.. but now im a believer :nerd:

EXACTLY!!!

If you really dont like them.. you can remove the caps and they do look quite tasty then... if you really want to see what they look like, the golf in fast and furious and them on. Im not sure if they editted that bit out or not, but if you look on the net im sure you can find some pics... i will see if i can.

Thats what i thought when i was desperate to find some pics on the net... but to be honest when i got the car it was the last thing on my mind. I did eventually try removing one of the caps but couldnt be bothered with getting the VW badges to cover the middle bit. In the end it looks ok.. but there are better looking wheels and cars out there.. so whats the point?? I bought it for one reason and one reason only... and that was to drive it!!

I even wonder sometimes that a car is such a big investment and we are always so bothered about what a car looks like.. but we hardly ever get to see our own car being driven. Unless we get someone else to drive it :undecided: and then follow them..

I asked the dealers today if i could have the rims changed and he said he would enquire about it, going in some time next week to pay the deposit for the R32,  the only thing im unsure about is the colour, there are 2 Black R32's, one Blue and 2 On order and then no reds....im seriously considering red but just cant make my mind up?

i would go for black, blue (shadow blue or dbp) or grey which looks very smart in my opinion

Manu, your dad seems very loving, why don't you ask him if he could stretch to Audi S3, I think you'd have much more excitement in it than in R32 (except for the exhaust sound). Plus, imagine what S3 with 330hp would do on the road!

Simple mate, supply and demand.  The reason you see more DPB and Black R32's is because those are the colours people want, end of story.

i cant say i have seen may red R32's.. in fact i dont think I have seen a single one, except on the net. It did look very nice tho. I think alot of it is to do with your location. Nicer weather usually means more colourful/brighter cars (from my experience) which can be kept cleaner and in their ful glory. tbh i dont think the colour will have such a big impact when it comes to selling. Esp seeing as your dad bought it for you (no offence).

Go have a look at all colours available and buy the one that you think looks best. wouldnt worry about what others think or are driving ever though you are from a relatively small island. i bought black because I didnt want mine to stand out too much. if you think Red looks nice im sure many others will too once they see it

Oh the jelousy
You are one spoilt son of a gun. Im going to put myself up for adoption and hope your dad adopts me.  :lipsrsealed:

Seriously. I dont think the R32 is a good idea. But hey its up to you. And to be honest. If you do get the R32. HAve the front grill converted to a GTI grill. It looks dam hot with the R32 tails and would scare the pants off anyone who has not had the chance to see the tails yet.

Hope you get insurance. I have already devised a cunnink plan to get my future car. Dont laugh but I really want a VW Caddy. The little panelvan one. How am I going to get it. Well... My dad just reasontly invented as such a product that can tilt drums etc and stuff. (not allowed to say anymore) and is going to start selling it. My dad owns a oil company so I will ask him if I can play salesman and Im sure the machine will fit in the caddy and I can sell it. The Caddy uses literally no fuel and when remapped can be very fast. Its a diesal with a lot of torque and power. I can also use it to transport my bike etc.

Bingo. So tell me Manu_GTI. Whats your excuse for the R32? Need top tow a house?

Just Jokes. Good luck
Mike

Not much of an excuse but have been working and saved up a bit of money! When i got paid this week i told my dad im gonna go and order the rims for the car...he said dont bother buying rims, save up a bit more money and il buy you a new car with 5 doors, next day went to the garage to enquire about the R32 and he said well, we are just making our christmas orders and im planning on bringing one in in red (colour i wanted) with this spec (full spec without recaros) so i said mate, hold on...i want it WITH the recaros  Now i just need to wait till wednesday for the insurance to call back, hopefully they say yes, pay the deposit and wait 3 months

Ok so you buy the R8 first for around £80,000. Then you get it turbo charged to 888BHP all for a mear £205,000.
So total cost around £300,000.

Anyone who does that really is dumb. For that type of money you can get a super car !
As much as i like Audi, no Audi is worth £300,000 !

If both of them were on at the same time they would be great dimmers !

Or when they flicker left to right that would be a great way to say hello to my mates coming on the other side

....Since some German guys added them a few months ago. A few guys in America are now doing the same. Involves cutting metal and doing a lot of work though - There's a 'How To' on vortex I think.

I reckon that the Golf Mk6 might have them or even the last production Mk5 GTI/R32's built into the headlight. Will deffo want some as aftermarket fit if they do!

In another video iv seen the guy has a button where the ESP and Tyre Pressure buttons are, u see him press a button which lights up quite nicely and the car keeps both LED's On.

I think if i do get the R32 on order, this would have to be done...doesnt seem to expensive 199 euros for the LED's and possibly around £100 for labour? Dont think the local VW garage would be up for it thou? And why doesnt the R32 have fogs
Title: Re: R32..
Post by: synnea on 03 December 2007, 12:06
It does not have fog lights because on the R32 there are air intakes behind the grill where the fog lights are normally. Needed to help aspirate the mighty V6 engine. As the R32 comes with xenons there is no need for fogs even when it is foggy. The lack of fog lights really does not make much of a difference. So other than the 'look' of having fog lights its not much of an issue.

I remember them making an apperance on an earlier thread, and also on another site. I was under the impresion you just unclip the blank plates that are currently behind the vents and slide the led lights in. Plug them in then drive round a McDonalds car park.. no???
