this is possibly a silly question but what would i expect. both my last 8v and 16v used to return about 28mpg round town, is this about right. its my only concern bout convertin from derv to perv,
-
I have had both and used to get around 36 out of my 8v and about 29 from my 16v
-
Umm I get between 19 and 24 from my 16v.....
-
My trip to and from work (lots of traffic, some clear running) I get about 32mpg. On a clear run on a long journey I see 38 - 40 mpg. 89 Digifant 8v.

8vs are the best after all
Well, for fuel consumption at least!

Not at all.
I've had an 8v and currently have a 16v - but with a rebuilt engine courtesy of awesomegti.
The 8v rarely exceeded 30mpg. The valver regularly tops 40mpg.
This weekend I was on a hoon with the Irish equivalent of Pistonheads, drove 380 miles including to and back from the meetup and an hour-long rag over A and B roads, and averaged 38.5mpg. Just incase you think I was driving like a Priest, I was caught speeding at 156km/h (96mph) and almost lost my licence. But they're my first points ever, so it's not too bad.
-
see no difference between the 2, at the mo i have a 16v and is actually better than my 8v
-
so it is posible to have 8 or 16v with same econemy!
-
All depends on how your gonna drive it. I think the most i've had is 31mpg
-
Doesn't matter if I boot it or granny it - I get 33 every time I fill her up.
-
I get the same as Kitty etc, around town 35mpg, and even at 75-80mph on a run 40 mpg, can and have got 50.4mpg driving like a granddad!
Prefer it when I only get 20-25mpg though
-
16V - lucky to reach 30mpg driving like a vicar....

same here :undecided:
-
On my 16v about 44/45 on the mway at 65mph, anything above 70 and it would go below 38
Round town roughly 27/33.
That was after replacing injector seals, TCI module, 2 injectors, fixing every vac leak, setting the timing and fuelling as before when i first got it, 17mpg town, 22 mway....

I think your 8V was f**ked!
-
I get an average of 36.3 mpg from my 8V and I'm happy with that
-
so if driven sensibly the fuel consumption isnt muchj more than my dts, just trying to find a good un for the right money orwillin to dfo a deal with the dts

Would be interested to know the difference between k-jet and digi engines.
I got a 8v k jet and on a recent trip from newquay (home) to glastonbury i managed 28 mpg i wasnt driving hard either just cruising at 75 ish ( Did i say 75 officer, i meant 70).
My mfa said i was doing 34mpg but i did the calculations from miles covered and fuel used to get the real mpg.
I've got a 16v engine that i'm just finishing a full rebuild on (rebore etc etc) and i'm seriously thinkin of converting it to digi, hence wanting to know if its worth the hassle or not.
