I beleive a few people here own this head unit...I ordered mine today and the car is going into the garage to get it installed...a few unanswered questions which im gonna ask here, hopefully some one can help answer :)
1. Where is the USB port...would i need a USB Extension cable to run behind the dashboard to some where abit more accesible??
2. It only accepts SD Cards?? Can it play images, music, videos of the card?
3. Are maps pre loaded onto the head unit?? or do i need to buy them??
-
Hi Manu,
USB port is at the rear of the unit and I have mine linked to an 80gb IPOD video which is run through to my glove compartment. It will play video straight from the IPOD with the right cable. I have never tried to run anything through the SD card slot and my local Kenwood dealer updates the satnav for me and so it never gets used by me. I don't even have an SD card :embarassed:
Maps are pre-loaded onto the hard drive in the head unit, so you need to ensure that you buy a unit that originates from your area. It's no good having European road maps if you are in South Africa
You WILL love the unit and you will feel the urge to upgrade your speakers too

Any pics of this unit in the dash?

Thanks hurdy! Even in my old clio i had a kenwood head unit so i thought that would need to be the way forward for the golf! After u telling us about ur 7200 i thought it may be worth the money...1500 euros its got everything including sat nav where normally u need to buy like this thing seperatley so it works...it will be fitted tomorrow at 5 our time (gibraltar time) and yes...about the speakers it will be all moved out of the clio and i will have like a fibre glass install done i think? (wooden box may be bit to big)...i will post pics tomorrow when iv got the car back and let u guys know how it is! Thanks hurdy  P.S Hurdy you have your ipod linked thru USB?? What about the Ipod Connection it comes with

How much does the installation cost?

What part of the IPOD function do you need help with?

I connect the ipod to the car with the usb cable the ipod comes with. Im then guessing you need to go to the USB option on the main menu. Once there it only wants to play one song! It wont allow me to browse through like playlists/artists or albums..it only allows me to listen to one song. But when i use my nano, im able to access the nano as like an external hard drive source :S, Do you have your ipod connected thru the KCA ICP 300? I know i am really bugging you and im sorry but really wanna sort it out as i cant make use of the 6 CD Changer either :(

Yes I have my IPOD connected through this connector http://www.justkenwood.co.uk/stock01/kcaip300v.asp
This should work with both the nano and the Video IPOD.
If you still have trouble try updating your software through the itunes site. I had to do this with my 30GB IPOD.
It should then play through the IPOD option in the source menu.

Yes, I have the bluetooth hands free fitting too. You need to ensure your phone is on the list of compatible phones that Kenwood supply though. Nokia have the best range of compatible phones. The list can be found on the link below.
