Well looks like im having to maybe loose the GTi for something bigger. Family is gonna get too big for the Golf.Have arranged a test drive in an 2006 Audi S-line TD 140 in the morning.Have had to weigh up trade in value before it starts to plumit, and although i would have the ed30 1st, i have to put family 1st. i hope i hate the Black S-line  although i do like the styling of it
-
you looking at an A4? or something bigger. i found the A4 to have less room in the rear than even my MKIV!!!
only thing you'll get is a better built car and a bigger boot; actual interior space is less although its a nicer place to be
-
Audi what? A3/ A4 ? You just got your tints done a couple of weeks ago? Confused?
-
audi A4 S-line avant

mmm nice car
-
my company car before the ED30 was a Audi 1.8T S-line in brilliant red, much bigger than the golf, a loverly car.
-
Wouldn't you consider the Passat estate?
Just looked on their site and there is a brand new 2.0TDI SEL (170ps) DSG with the following spec.
Oct '07 reg (57)
Arctic blue silver (I know you like blue)
Black alcantara and leather electric adjustable heated seats
DSG
Climate
Cruise
£19,995
Surely a better bet

Good shout if you need an estate - Passat or any VW cannot touch Audi big cars for build or cudos

the only thing that puts me off Audis is the stereos and the central console. Its well...cheap. Theve used the same cheap looking stereo in the Lambo Gallardo
-
Make sure you sit in the back and check access with the driver's seat positioned where you would have it.
Plenty of room for 2 children but it's not quite up to Passat or Mondeo space for 3 teenages/adults.
Only other thing is the ride, I had an 02 A6 Sport with 17" and low profiles with sport suspension and the ride on non motorways was not good. I think they've sorted this on the new A6 but not sure about the A4.
-
ohh no!!! what about the extras!!!!!!!!! lol
-
ok test result .... Audi A4 avant= horrid
Hopefully VW passat will be better.
-
Really?
Its a lovely looking car, what was wrong with it?
-
didnt get much on the reletivly low spec'd car. Audi want too much for simular spec'd A4, just couldnt get comfortable in it.Boot was the only thing i thought the need to chop the VW in, but its certainly gonna be a hard car to give up.Going back to a crappy Manual Gearbox is a huge draw-back aswell. They wanted silly money for Sat Nav and Bose audio system as well along with their autobox aswell. Will be looking into a VW i think, passat with DSG, but just had conformation through about my house and will be moving 2 weeks today confirmed, so im not gonna mess around sorting cars out just yet now till after the move. Then i will look into possibly changing after we are settled.Prices of high spec passat Estate's are very good from what ive seen so far.
Couldnt help myself though looking at a 265hp White S3 in the showroom at a wonderful price of £31995!!!. gonna go auction the family i think!
-
I have a issue with Audi A4's dont you dare buy one :lipsrsealed:
They hurt irresponsible cyclists
ON THE OTHER HAND: its a stunnin looking machine
-
my next car WILL be an RS4..........or evo 9 :lipsrsealed:
-
Wait for the new A4, it looks very nice.
Mind you the way that Audi add things to the options list, can lead to a high total price. I was looking at a second hand S3 07 plate, no rain and light sensors, it was up for £27000 second hand
A few things were missing that are standard on the Golf:-
Interior light pack £140.
Rear centre armrest with cupholder
- with throughload (excludes ski bag) £125
Electric lumbar support £190
Light and rain sensor pack £190

S3.. waste of money.. Phil, sell one of the kidneys and buy yourself M5. That's the car! Family will be mighty happy!

just come back from VW and have instructed them to find a Black / Steel grey Passat 170TD SPORT with DSG. they will give us £18k for my GTI (which for an 05 car i was chuffed) +a couple of Grand to get a high spec version. They are trying to hunt one down for me in the next couple of weeks.
-
Result
Did you have a test drive in a Passat then? If so you must have liked it :undecided:
Oettinger do a remap for the 170 TDI now and take it to 205bhp

will be test driving their fully loaded Sport DSG on wednesday. To be Honest im hooked on it already, sat in one in their showroom, luv the inside of it, keyless start button aswell!, and it doesnt even have a handbrake lever!!!!.something to do with brake and electricity being the reason!!. heres a sample of what she will look like..

I could go for the TFSI 2.0 again and it could be a bloomin fast family Estate!!! after being chipped .But going for the DPF 2.0 TD to get 40mpg (town figure) which ive forgotten what that feels like!, the dealer has both a manual 170 and dsg so i can make up my mind.Ive found 6 good priced ones, only 4 months old at most , and are already down from £23600 starting price down to £21500, which i will knock em down by a grand as its getting near the end of their month, and they will wanna do business ie offers etc.
Also, if i didnt get one with sat nav fitted, is their anything else the car needs to have in place, ie must haves in order for an MFD2 system to work. ie fleabay later on for the unit.
-
I knew you would like it over the A4. A couple of guys at work have both gone for Passats over the A4 and both have transferred from Audi's (One from an A6 and one from an A4). Both agree that it is a more comfortable ride and that you get more for your money than with an Audi.

they are trying to sell me a fully loaded Passet SEL with the sports kit installed at a full extra list, including bluetooth dial pad! :undecided:, but its not black, its Reflex silver :undecided: :undecided:
-
If your not happy.......walk away. There are always more cars around.
-
I suspect the £18k px they've offered is very tempting - as it is indeed a very generous offer!
Look at the 'price to change' and then check the price for similar Passats.
I wouldn't be surprised if they've not tried to 'hook' you with a high px - so check what they're looking for on the Passat?
Bear in mind the residuals on the Passat will be nowhere near as good as on the GTi
Have you had a px offer at another dealership?
HTH, Good luck!
-
but its not black, its Reflex silver :undecided: :undecided:
And what, mat I ask, is wrong with reflex silver???
