Electrical loom work is the problem here it will take some time, but I'm sure if you have gone that far in getting a 16V lump you have thought about what you're doing or not

afaik, they have completely different fuel systems, so you would have all the fuel lines, and pumps to change as well as the loom.
Just buy a valver if you want one!

Only if the 8v is a digifant will you have to do that, if it is a k-jet then that'll all be fine.

Agree totally, never build a car you can buy!

Pisses me right off when people say that.

I am currently converting my 8v mk2 into a 2.0 16v. Yes i could have sold my 8v to go and get a factory 16v, but didn't for the following reasons:

See now MEW ur getting it..... i mean y bother buying a car that u cant guarantee s gonnaa be what u want when u already have it.... and as fr buy a valver i chalange u to find me a valver with an oettinger conversion in for 500 quid. say no more.

i love working on the car its great fun u learn so much more doing it yourself too. my 8v has been with me since i passed my test and its goin nowhere.

its a digi and yes i have got to change the fuel system but it aint really a big job when there is no engine  or zorst in the way fuel pumps are easy to change lines a bit of a pain but hey ho its all part of the fun. and like i say if u can find me a valver with 180bhp for 500 thats in as good a nick as mine is ill buy it now.

the loom is with the engine so it just means swapping it from fusebox forwards with the one thats on my car now... and if im honest my electrical knowledge on a golf int tha good so it will definately teach me a hell of a lot if i change it myself, as you rightly said clipperjay i know exactly what im in for but i wudnt be doing it if i didnt think it would be worth it...
