I have just got a set of components and was thinking about placement of the tweeters and thought the best place would prob be on the bit of trim next to wing mirror but to be different i thought about having the board the tweeter it in be raised off of the bit or trim like so.

Does anyone see a problem with mounting them here???

yeh i see a big problem!!!

I get a nice high soundstage where I've put mine - knocked up a couple of thin MDF baffles and put them in place of where the original dash speakers sit. 100% stealthy too :)

yeh i see a big problem!!!
would you like to let us know what the problem is, or is it a secret?
the only thing i would say is to try to angle them more towards you if possible, they should sound better/louder!

He was being a tardface (i know him) and his problem was i'v not wired my tweeters in.
The mounting they are in allows for me to twist and angle them to a range of position so on the final fit they will be tweeked in to the perfect position smart set up saved me alot of work :D

dont call me a tardface thats very unfair!! i think ur tweeters are very nice say thank u to me for tellin u to have them!!

Competition ICE installers reccommend not to place the speakers more than 9" to 12" away from the mid range speaker. I have placed mine directly above the speaker grill, on the door card.
What this does is keeps the treble sound stage in phase with the mid and also stops the treble out sounding the mid and bass. Treble is naturally up to 6times louder to human ears so i have my tweeters set at -4db.
Hope this helps...

how do you alter your wing mirrows

Take the front dash ones out, cut a round hole just large enough to fit that tweeter in, your kit should have suitable mounts. Bit like this:

Tri,
Tweeter placement is a very subjective issue, and all down to personal taste. It also depends upon how much work you are prepared to take on.
The first thing I would do is to get a nice big bit of blu-tac, or something else sticky, and make sure that you have plenty of wire on the tweets. Decide upon a position, and stick them on. Listen to them for at least a couple of days, using every type of music that you're likely to listen to. Then move them, and try again. Keep doing this, until you've tried all possible positions.
Often, metal dome tweeters sound harsh, especially when on axis (firing directly at your ears), to remedy this, try pointing them more across the cabin, or at each other. Soft dome tweeters are more forgiving, and sometimes sound better firing more directly at you.
I tried mounting some tweeters in my mk2, using the dash speaker locations, but found that this also sounded a little harsh, not to mention the fact that you get a reflection off of the screen, which is not ideal. The poster who commented about keeping the tweeters close to the mids is correct, but this can lead to a low sound stage - again personal preference. The level of the tweeter and the mid should be matched by the manufacturer, and taken care of by the crossover - but the option is usually there to lower the level if required.
The mirror backings are the most obvious place to mount, and probably one of the easier options. I found that the best sound was produced with the tweets at the base of the a pillar, pointing towards the headrest on the opposite side.

I take it you mean mirrors? I assume by using the wing mirror altering knob WHICH IS ON THE DOOR NOT THE MIRROR BACKING!
Hope that helps.
