Lots of posts on here about rivalry between the Standard GTi and ED30 but this morning I had some complete t055er come rolling up behind me and Flash me out of the way.
Now IF i'd been sitting in the outside lane on my own (two lane motorway) no problems, BUT I was overtaking a line of traffic at marginally over the national speed limit, and I wasn't going to speed up OR pull in for him to gain 10 seconds. He was in a Bright Red 5 Door 05 Plate Gti. I don't usually get wound up but he annoyed me. I did think about jumping out behind him and PUSHING his standard Gti with my lights on FULL but I counted to 10 and let him go on his merry way.
KNOB!

lol complete tool !
If there was traffic infront you, I would have just sat there as you cant go any faster, would wind him up even more.
-
Happens with drivers of any car.
t0sser in a merc did this to me the other day.
My thoughts are always - why is your journey more important than mine, get stuffed! Then I think - well, you're obviously not happy with my overtaking, so I'll slow down and go back to other lane, where I was before I started the move. Winds them up nicely!
-
I so know where you coming from with this! I've had it a couple of times, its so annoying, I remember a guy in a porker attempting it - 3 lane motorway, heavy traffic, me in outside lane slowly overtaking at around 60ish mph. Blokes on his lights, waving his arm (convertible), then pulls into the middle lane and tries to undertake, but can't 'cos of all the cars!! WHY!!!??
-
i was in my gf's ka!! and some big 4x4 was bhind us up my ass. hooted at me too. so i thought f that,, went even slower... they then decided to over take!! so i put my foot down, couldnt over take and ended up pulling in bhind me.. made me laugh them mad.. great :) KA power!
-
think were all probably guilty of this at some stage of our lives....
anyway f**k it, put your brakes on, slow right down ( this is hypothetical as its techincally roadrage and probably illegal), encourage him with a few wayne kerr signs and then signal him to come off..
then smack him round the head with your wheel brace.
job done, and he wont do it again..(or anything else for that matter as you'll probably have killed him)
failing that, let it wash over you...he's probably a kerhunt with nowhere to go and is trying to get there quickly...sit back, relax and be comfortable knowing what you know...
now sleeep...

glad it's not just me then!
Have to agree, it's not just GTi Drivers, just made it slightly more contraversial!! (Afternoon Phil )

Yeah but sometimes its the other way around, your'll get some n0b sat in the fast lane in there big car not overtaking anything, but because there car cost £40,000 and they are doing 70 its ok. God they do my head in.
-
Totally agree, I'm the first to flash if they are just sat there with loads of room in the other lane..... it's when there is NOWHERE to go and the fact that I should move over, slow down behind a slower car, then pull back out behind them! See I'm still angry!!

There is no rivalry!! Ed30 wins EVERY time!!!

Exactly... I do 300 miles commute a day and can't stand it when some t055er thinks their dad built the motorway and decideds to overtake on the outside lane at 60mph... worst culrpits are vans.

Thats my preferred solution if I think the guy in front is taking the p155. Its even more fun as I drive my Mk2 16v and the look on their faces when they can't keep up 'with a tatty old Golf' is priceless.

In the case you describe, I'd let them continue, but if they could pull but then decide not to because there is a car 100 metres ahead that they want to overtake - and so decide to stay in the outside lane and snail's pace, that REALLY peeves me - and then I do the Mk2 16v manouvere on the inside lane and boy does it shift after 4k rpm

I did that myself last night to a complete tool in a 1.2 Polo who wouldn't yield when I flashed him then decided it would be funny to flash the brake lights at me. I undertook him with the middle finger on display and he was furious going by his body language as I looked in the rear view mirror. Unfortunatley I got stuck at some lights a couple of miles later and he came up behind me , still irate , jumped out of the car , approached my car and stood shouting at me at the drivers side window. I couldn't hear a word as I had Interpol on loud and just smiled at him. At this point it occurred that the bell end was going to leave a massive dent in the drivers side door as the veins were now bulging out of his forehead and I could sense his blood pressure was on the verge of giving him a stroke. Thankfully the lights turned green and I screeched away, pausing slightly to give him Winston Churchill victory salute, which made him even angrier.

It was probably a merc/BMW driver (avec petite cock) driving the bosses car
-
A classic example of why you shouldn't give them the "bird" unless you are prepared to deal with the fall out. You never know who is in the car in front and sometimes it just isn't worth the hassle. Personally I just remain calm, after all, it's only driving and life is too sort.
Still, if you insist on hand gestures then I can recommend this for the inevitable fallout: http://www.krav-maga.org.uk/ (http://www.krav-maga.org.uk/) - works for me.

There is no rivalry!! Ed30 wins EVERY time!!!
I think both cars GTI & ED30 are the nuts! Please though bring some perspective to the above argument, ED30 v GTI, sorry to say if you're talking DSG 5 door ED30 v GTI standard there is only 0.3 secs between them in sprint times! blink and you'll miss it! They are both fantastic cars and very capable, both can be tuned to in excess of 300bhp and both will woop many other cars. enough said!

Agreed... and they are both GTI's and therefore equal. Having said that of course, as George Orwell might have commented, some cars are more equal than others.

oooh cheeky

Funny actually...
Today coming back from MosselBaai (Will post pics on another thread) we had the same thing but with a very shiny new BMW 330i. We were doing about 145km per hour as it was already and he decided to overtake and then swerve in front of us narrowly missing the car in front of us resulting in our grille being a few inches from his @ss.
Now my father would have none of this behaviour. :smug: So as the BMW overtook the car in front my dad went at the same time and evertook the car and the BMW. Naturally BMW drivers are noobs (mean no offence to a BMW driver reading this, most of them are...) and he decided I cant have a "golf" come past me and tried to follow. I was shocked naturally. Mt dad floored the GTI and he floored his BMW.
At 210km per hour (I think it was) the wife was freaking out and the BMW was battling to keep up. From nowhere the BM had a sudden burst of power and came past only just managing it (the road was a straight) and in the road there was a sharpish turn and the BMW with legendary bodyroll etc had to slow down slightly whereas we went flying around on his outside
Might I tell you he didnt pass us again....
So for those who like to take advantage of our "Golfs" beware

If there was traffic infront you, I would have just sat there as you cant go any faster, would wind him up even more.
Wash your screen (especially If you've got headlamp washers)... it's like chucking a bucket of water over the tw4t behind. Guaranteed to pi55 them off discretely. Mind you, I did it to a chav on a rev-and-go moped in traffic once and nearly caused him to come off as I hadn't noticed he had his visor up. Felt pretty bad for a while

Not all of them, especially if it is a MB Sprinter, cause they go like fcuk.
What we really need to do is BAN, permanently, all vehicles with more than 5 seats, all vehicles over 1.5m tall (that will stop fcuking "people" carriers, which never usually have more than one person in them!), all car-derived vans, and any other "undesireables" from lane three of the m-ways.
Furthermore, all commercial vehicles, along with anything towing - should be restricted to lane one only, between the hours of 06:00 to 22:00, and completely banned on Sundays on m-ways. This works in Germany, and with the exception of the Sunday ban, also works in France.
Oh, and scrap the m-way speed limit, but with some notable exceptions near certain danger hot spots.

Oi !!!! I ride a fecking motorbike too, and get mighty pissed off with a liberal dosing of alcohol based screenwash, even if it does smell of lemon!
