 i have just bought myself a very very nice k-jet 8 valve gti on a B plate registered in august '85, i', sure there are older ones out there,so let me know if your is older.
have noticed some subtle differneces in mine like no sunroof,mk1 upholstery, thinner steering wheel,no side mouldings etc etc.does anyone know of any other differences??
cheers gang

My MK2 was registered in April 84, with a glass sunroof & had a bigger cam than a standard 8v (which was factory fitted, shown in the spec sheet)
-
I did have an 84 A reg in my posession up until recently. It only had a single exhaust cut-out (not a double one half blanked) and even had the mk1 style side decals!
-
I am currently doing pu an a reg mark 2 not many around
-

my new purchase today is a 1988 jetta 1.8 built in south africa,
it's got:_
air con (yes it works)

blue tinted glass
weber with manual choke as standard
different side mouldings
rear headrests
leather steering wheel
and more stuff the more i look at it....................why in this country do we get inferior spec motors???

It wasn't so much the price, it was where it was and the fact that i have 2 Golfs at the moment anyway! Admittidly, i did expect it to go for more than that, was very surprised when i saw the finishing price. You definitely got yourself a bargain there!

 i used to live in the west midlands and was a bit supprised when i saw where it was........3.5 hours travelling by train to get it.......was worth it though.am going to drop it 40mm,stick a golf grill etc in it and gti front splitter and the brand new seat 14's that i have or maybe the 15" oz polaris' that i also have.if i ever find out how to post pictures on here i will load one up.....

Mines February '85, early, but not as early as I'd like....I really should get it tested and running right, but my 944's taking most of my time at the mo....

Saw a nice A plate Mk2 at Stonor just in the car park at the bottom of the hill near the auto jumble this year.
Mars red with all the Mk1 ish touches like the decals and interior.
